Stratix 10 communicating with Arria V

Hello,

I need to design a high speed communication interface (around 40 Gb/s across 8 differential lanes) between a Stratix 10 and Arria 5 FPGAs. To limit the design effort, I wanted to use Serial Lite.
However, it seems like the Stratix 10 supports SL3 while the Arria V supports SL2.

Please suggest an alternative that would limit the design effort to a minimum.

Hi shaiko,

You may use SL3 because I found that Stratix 10 and Arria V support SL3. For further information, you may refer link below, Table 1, https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/docs/programmable/683330/23-3-20-0-2/quick-reference.html

Best regards,

I don't have a design yet.
I can use any Quartus version.

Hi shaiko,

My suggestion is you can use SL3 if you use the device Arria 10 instead of Arria V. For further information, you may refer link below, Table 1, https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/docs/programmable/683330/23-3-20-0-2/quick-reference.html

Besides that, as I know, only Arria 10 device has the special request for a special license to enable the Intel Quartus® Prime software to generate the FPGA configuration file (.sof) when using SL2. For further information, you may refer link below, Table 1 SerialLite II IP Core Release Information, https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/docs/programmable/683179/16-1-16-1/seriallite-ii-ip-core-overview.html

I need to design a high speed communication interface (around 40 Gb/s across 8 differential lanes) between a Stratix 10 and Arria 5.

That's a hard requirement - I can't use Arria 10. It must be Arria 5 and Stratix 10.

What's the easiest way to connect them ?
