Hi,
This is my first time use this PHY IP with custom protocol.
My usage is a slave and bus speed is 2.7Gb.
The bus will be filled with IDLE packet, when there's no valid data.
When start, mater will sent IDLE packet as K29.7, K28.5, K23.7..
My question is can I use K28.5 as the word align in PCS?
If yes, then I assign 0xBC as alignment pattern.
What about the alignment pattern length, should I use 8 or 10?
Please help.
Thank you!
BRs,
Johnson

Hi,
As I understand it, you have some inquiries related to word alignment pattern for custom protocol. I believe you are using native PHY in your design. For your information, in custom configuration of Native PHY, there is no issue using K28.5 as word alignment pattern. You will need to use 10 bit encoded version of the K28.5 ie 0x17C. For reference, you may open a Native PHY, select the GIGE preset and check on the word aligner configuration.
Please let me know if there is any concern. Thank you.
Best regards,
Chee Pin
