VIP Suite - Who's in charge?

Using the VIP Suite: I have Clocked Video Input (CVI) and a framebuffer (FB ), another CVI and FB. These feed the Alpha Blender/mixer which feeds the clocked video output (CVO) and having all sorts of issues getting things to work. Is the CVO pulling data from the alpha blender and frame buffer, or are they pushing data to it? In other words, who is in charge of activating the video stream?

The whole system is interconnected using Avalon-ST bus, which is other called streaming bus, so the data is streamed from component to component. The sink component can only backpressure stream using ready signal, otherwise there are no controls.
