Hi all
My company bought several De2i-150 board for evaluation and I noticed an error message related to the hardware. I want to know if this is a known issue and if there is a workaround. Note: The FPGA has not been programmed for now. Here is what I found: # dmesg [ 300.999042] [Hardware Error]: Machine check events logged This kind of message should be analyzed with mcelog tool http://www.advancedclustering.com/act-kb/what-are-machine-check-exceptions-or-mce/ I found this issue on the Yocto Linux system provided with the board and also with our custom Linux system, and with the following Linux versions: 3.2.63, 3.10.11 (Yocto) and 3.16.7. After analysis, it seems that error is related to the bios... The physical map show that the address range 0x00000000e0000000 to 0x00000000f0000000 has been reserved by the bios. In the mcelog report, the address 0xe00000f3 is every time the problem. Something is happening to this address 300 seconds after the boot (watchdog ?) Googling for "MCA: BUS Level-0 Local-CPU-originated-request Generic Memory-access Request-did-not-timeout" Error, you will find this thread with a similar error report: http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.hardware.soekris.technical/17314 The issue was solved by updating the bios firmware. For now, there is only one bios release for the De2i-150 (rev58) Thanks ! kubuLink Copied
