New here! Just got a DE0-Nano. Real frustration from the get go!
Cannot even get the DE0-Nano control panel to work. I installed the Altera FPGA (free) development tool Quartu2 II Prime 18. Its on C:\intelFPGA_lite on a Windows 10 system. Took a long time to install but no apparent problems. After a lot of screwing around I managed to install the USB_Blaster driver. Was deep down in the above folder. Checks out OK in windows device manager. I then installed the DE0-Nano_ControlPanel (DE0-Nano_Controlpanel.exe) at:- .....\Documents\FPGA\DE0-Nano and DE0_SystemBuilder also at:- .....\Documents\FPGA\DE0-Nano when I go to run the DE0-Nano_ControlPanel I get "failed to find Quartus installation folder!" then https://alteraforum.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=15450&stc=1 then https://alteraforum.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=15451&stc=1 https://alteraforum.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=15452&stc=1 can somebody point out what the problem is before I throw this thing in the trash can. Wasted 3 hours on it already! Thanks in advance John :evil:Link Copied

John thanks for the fast reply. Unfortunately the link above is very old, its even unclear what directory to execute the CMD line from. I tried a few, none seemed to work!
How are people getting Terasic's DE0_Nano to work Exactly what steps are they using. What version of Quatus are they using. What is the order of the program installs. I installed Quatus (Lite) from the Intel web site (Prime18). I installed and expanded the DE0-nano from the Terasic web site "CD image" and put it in its own folder in my \Documents folder -- as suggested. How simple can this be, yet it does not install!!!! What is the trick??? John- Mark as New

If I remember correctly the control panel only works if you installed the exact same version of Quartus that was used when the control panel was compiled.

Hi,
Can you send me the link to the Control Panel, I've got the same Terasic DE0-Nano kit and i don't see a Control panel application apart from the System Builder. I've installed the Quartus II v17.1 and used the SystemBuilder without any issues under Windows 10. I don't see a ControlPanel application download in the Terasic download site for the board CDROM too. I could help you out if you can provide me the links.- Mark as New

Could be right. I did not compile the control panel. I downloaded it directly from here
http://www.terasic.com.tw/cgi-bin/page/archive.pl?language=english&no=593&partno=4 My Quartus Prile 18.0 (Lite) resides here:- C:\intelFPGA_lite\18.0\quartus\bin64\quartus.exe Are you saying it should be in bin64 or further back up the chain. DE0_Nano is at ......\Documents\DE0-Nano but there are a number of directories there.- Mark as New

Somebody told me that the above DE0-Nano kit Control panel software does not work with the 64 bit version of Windows 10.
Is this true? John- Mark as New

Go to cd download page to faq page to common technical questions.
The following questions and answer point to pdf downloads that when applied solved the same problem that you were having. How to Update CD Demo Batch Files for Newer Quartus Edition ? Running Control Panel under Quartus II 15.0 or later version I tested the Control Panel updates for version 16.1 and 18.0. Under 16.1 I had a download failure (execution path incorrect). I typed the command in a terminal window, made the path fix, ran it. and it fix the problem. I did not test the demo programs. jjfretired- Mark as New
