MAX10 FPGA Develop kit replacement (repair) request

Hi,

We purchased three sets of MAX10 FPGA develop kit (Part number: DK-DEV-10M50-A) in July 2020 through Mouser.sg.

All these three sets function well when we started deploy our project using the HSMC connector. However, recently , two of them are malfunction in the HSMC connector. Therefore, we want to initiate the service support to replace(or repair) these two malfunction sets. Regarding these two malfunction sets, the SOF files are still able to upload successfuly. Only the HSMC connector cannout output normally as in previous usage.

The devices are operated in lab environment with no physical damage.

Kindly thanks for your reply regarding the solutions.

Attachment is one set with HSMC connector malfunction for your information.

Hi Sir

Thanks for your patience. Done checking with customer service team, your device is still in warranty. We will proceed with RMA proses. Before proceeding with dev kit RMA, Intel requires details information for RMA (Failure Analysis) request. The failure description you provided is too general to understand the actual failure behavior at your site. Intel requires details information. Please help to answer questions below in order for us to better understand your position.

1. What is the failure symptom? Please elaborate the failure symptom in detail.

2. When did the failure happen? How you discover the failure?

3. How did you determine the failure? Please elaborate the procedures.

4. Does the failure unit ever working before failure?

5. Did you swap the failure board with a known good board?

Hi,

Thanks for the help.

The following is detail answer.

1. What is the failure symptom?

The failure symptom is when the FPGA board is turned-on, there is light short-current sound.

The failure FPGA board is still able to upload the SOF files.

2. When did the failure happen? How you discover the failure?

During the measurement, we use micro probes contact with the HSMC pins directly to read data from the pins. At intial measurement, it works well. After several times measurement, it doesn't give any data signal out. The measurement pin will stay high or low for all the time. Then, after turn-on and off again, we hear the short-current sound.

3. How did you determine the failure? Please elaborate the procedures.

The failure is determined by the successul measurement of previous several times. And compared with our third FPGA which is still working good with no short-current sound.

4. Does the failure unit ever working before failure?

Yes, the failure units ever working before failure.

5. Did you swap the failure board with a known good board?

Yes, we repeat the same measurements between failure boards with the known good board.

Please feel free to let us know if you have any more questions.

             1st set

Serial Number : 10M50DA0005098

2nd set

Serial Number : 10M50DA0005096

b) IPS No. 00547130

c) The debugging steps done:

During the measurement, we use micro probes contact with the HSMC pins directly to read data from the pins. At initial measurement, it works well. After several times measurement, it doesn't give any data signal out. The measurement pin will stay high or low for all the time.
