Regarding Cyclone V GT development kit. I want to know is there a way to trigger a software reset for this device?

Hi PCHIN2,

Are you saying the default hardware design which is pre-programmed into the development kit? If it so, you may find it in the installation kit which can be obtained from link below:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/programmable/products/boards_and_kits/dev-kits/altera/kit-cyclone-v-gt.html

Thanks for replying SooYL!

We are not using the pre-programmed rtl, we are using a customised rtl which we are flashing using quartus programmer tool.

Also when I went through the manuals, it says cyclone V comes with a reset switch...doesnt talk about reset via software. Am I right here? if so is there no support for this?

Hi PCHIN2,

The reset button is meant for FPGA logic and MAX V reset. May i know what is the reason for software reset?

If you are having issue to boot the FPGA, you may try to restore the Flash Device to the Factory Settings by following the guide at link below:
