Role of TPG in tPad VIP Camera demonstration

 Does someone know what is TPG component and what does it do in the VIP Camera demonstration of tPad Kit?  Thank you,

the TPG can generate color bars or a frame of a solid color. i don't know what it does in that reference design

Thanks, I googled it but with just the initiales it was difficult to find something. Since I have found the exact signification (Test Pattern Generator) and it's now easier.
