SRAM capacity in UP3?

Hi,

The book "Rapid Prototyping of Digital Systems" mentions that UP3 board supports 128KB of SRAM memory. But in my SOPC builder when I set the SRAM size to 512 KB, the SOPC builder is able to generate the system and Quartus II is also able to compile the design.

But how is this possbile? Why does the book mention it as 128 KB and still I am able to successfully generate 512KB SRAM system?

Thanks for the replies,

Amjad

the SRAM chip in my board is is61lv6416l and the data sheet http://www.issi.com/pdf/61lv6416_l.pdf also mentions 128 KB. Why is that I am not getting error when I compile with 512 KB SRAM?

SOPC build and Quartus don't know about the chips outside the FPGA.

They'll just trust whatever you say.
