Using terasic DE2 as a daughter board for Terasic DE4

I am using a DE2 board as a VGA interface for a DE4 board.

For this purpose I have connected the DE2 board to the GPIO1 slot in DE4.

The DE2 is not connected to any other power source, just the GPIO.

The DE4 itself is powered by the provided external power supply (that is to say, it is not getting power from PCIe slot).

So the DE2 board takes the power from VCC/GND pins on the DE4 GPIO1 slot. And it works. The VGA interface works as expected.

However I wonder this is perhaps too much power to get from GPIO1 ? Is it?
