14700k Constant Crashing

Hello - I have purchased an Intel I7 14700k from best buy a few months ago, and what started with crashing on VALORANT has now escalated to crashing on Call of Duty, CSGO (not CS2) and a couple other of the games that I play.

I'm starting to get concerned that maybe I got a lemon processor or something, the performance isn't where I would've expected it to be for such a new and powerful processor, I have a b660m-c motherboard, 3070, and 32GB of DDR4 2166 RAM. I've done troubleshooting that the game creators recommend like making sure my drivers are up to date, windows is up to date, I have reinstalled windows completely, and still I can't launch VALORANT or Call of Duty without the games crashing, it seems to be a common issue with these processors (13th & 14th gen). I updated to the latest beta bios for my motherboard and still face these crashes.

Similar threads I've found show intel support reps saying to the OP to "check their email" but that doesn't help the rest of us that are browsing the threads trying to figure out what's happening.. Starting to think maybe I should've just gone AMD.

Support appreciated.

Hi,

I understand your frustration with the persistent crashes. Here are a few steps you can try to pinpoint the issue:

  1. Check Temps: Ensure your CPU isn't overheating. Use monitoring software to check temperatures while gaming.
  2. Power Supply: Make sure your power supply is adequate for your setup. Sometimes instability can be due to insufficient power.
  3. RAM Configuration: Verify that your RAM is correctly configured in the BIOS and running at its rated speed. You might also want to run a memory diagnostic.
  4. BIOS Settings: Besides updating to the latest BIOS, check for any specific settings related to CPU stability.
  5. Intel Diagnostic Tool: Use Intel's Processor Diagnostic Tool to test your CPU for any faults.

I had a similar issue with my setup, and these steps helped resolve it. If the problem persists, it might be worth reaching out to Intel support directly or considering an RMA for the processor.

Good luck, and I hope you find a solution soon!
