Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 color artifacts still on Iris Xe

I started a new thread since the old one is no longer monitored, referring to

https://community.intel.com/t5/Gaming-on-Intel-Processors-with/WARZONE-2-0-artifacts-Intel-Iris-Xe-Graphics/m-p/1441504

I have not checked for a while, but now I installed the latest drivers for Intel Iris Xe (31.0.101.4644) and surely, the ground (for example) is still heavily glitched in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 with "colored carpet patterns" appearing (and disappearing) in a very distracting manner and it still renders the game very unenjoyable.

It's kind of depressing that the issue has been there since the release of the game in Nov 2022 and it was reported back then and it still persists. Otherwise the game runs just fine with modest graphical settings, achieving a steady 45 fps.

There have probably been dozens of bugs / issues / glitches fixed during the last year and thank you for the support team for that. This msg is just a heads up that it still is bothering and I'm looking forward for it being eventually taken care of.

I attached some pictures from a game to demonstrate the issue (taken with a phone).

Hello @hsode345

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities.

Please make sure your system meets the minimum requirements for Call of Duty: Warzone

Also, in order to have more information about your system, please download, install and run Intel® System Support Utility for Windows. Make sure you check “Everything” before you scan, then save the report and attach it to your response.

Then, please generate and attach the Report for Intel® Intel Graphics Command Center

Thank you for the reply!

I created the SSU-report, see the attachment. In short, I'm using ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED with Intel Core i7-1165G7, 16 Gb of RAM, Intel Iris Xe iGPU. Windows 11 Home with all the updates.

Regarding the minimum system requirements, the system does not meet them since the game states GPU "NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 960 or Radeon™ RX 470 - DirectX 12.0 compatible system", and I'm specifically (of course) playing on Intel Iris Xe --- but since it is a DirectX 12 compatible GPU it should not matter.

And about the Report for Intel Graphics Command Center... the newest drivers include Intel Arc Control to adjust the settings of the GPU, NOT the Intel Graphics Command Center... and it seems there are no option to generate a report, like in IGCC. That's why it's not included.

The only reasonable explanation is that the drivers for Iris Xe are doing something wrong when drawing the terrain..?

And now that I remembered, there is also my previous thread concerning this issue here (there were some stability issues back then also, now this is only about the terrain):

Hello hsode345

Thank you for patiently waiting.

We need to have some information for further investigation. Please share the DirectX Debug Layers:

Go to Settings > Apps > Optional features > Add an optional feature (click "View features") > Enable "Graphics Tools" > Click "Next" > Click "Install".

For more information, please visit https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/gaming/use-the-directx-runtime-and-visual-studio-graphics-diagnostic-features

To capture the data, please follow this:

1.    Run the “Dbgview.exe”

2.    Search in Windows for dxcpl and run it.

3.    Press "Edit List..." in the Direct3D 10/11/12 tab.

4.    Select application that you would like to inspect.

5.    Add executable file to the list and click "Ok".

6.    Select "Force On" under the Direct3D/DXGI Debug Layer section and "Ok" to close the window and save changes.

7.    Run the game/app, reproduce the issue, and go back to the Debug View app.

8.    Save the log file and attach it to your response.

Hello!

The procedure to get the debug logs turned out to be a bit more hassle than I thought for the following reasons:

1) I did not have Dbgview.exe readily installed on my computer, so I used the one I found from Mircosoft at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/debugview

2) The game seems to crash constantly if I set the game executable (cod.exe) to be inspected by dxcpl, so I can only enter the game mode selection screen and I do not reach the actual glitched in-game graphics. I included a log (Debug_29Aug2023_4.LOG) that shows the errors that get spammed just before the game crashes.

3) I was able to set the game executable (cod.exe) to be inspected _while_ I was playing the game, and I included here also a log of that. It seems to contain much less information, so it might not give much extra information, see Debug_29Aug2023_6.LOG . Maybe the bugged graphics get generated at an earlier step?

But here are the logs!

Hello hsode345

Thank you for patiently waiting.

We just received an update on this matter, since the requirements site does not mention IGPU, it is an unsupported product for the game.

However, you can check if the version 31.0.101.4826 works better. Intel cannot guarantee the performance since the system does not meet the minimum requirements.

Please keep in mind that this thread will no longer be monitored by Intel. Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for your response and checking the situation.

I understand that this isn't a high priority and that iGPU's are not ideal for playing a more demanding game, such as Warzone 2.0 in this case.

Still it feels a bit frustrating to bump into this kind of persisting driver bug, since Intel clearly has been actively developing the drivers of Iris Xe and Arc to eliminate such bugs and performance issues.

Nevertheless, I'll keep checking new drivers every now and then. I have not checked 31.0.101.4826 , yet. But I will

Best wishes,

HS
