After updating my Intel Iris XE graphics, my refresh rate got capped to 75hz. Before updating, my refresh rate on my monitor is 120hz. When using this display for other computers it was able to go to 120hz with the same HDMI cord. I've tried 2 different cords, restarting, and rerolling. But my refresh rate is still capped at 75hz

Hi Felix,

Thank you for reaching out about the refresh rate limitation you're experiencing with your AOC Q27B30S3 monitor after the Intel Iris Xe graphics driver update. I understand how frustrating it must be to lose the 120Hz capability that was working previously.

Since you're using an Acer Aspire A514-56M laptop, I'd strongly recommend using Acer's OEM-provided graphics drivers rather than Intel's generic drivers. OEM drivers are specifically optimized for your laptop's hardware configuration and often include custom settings and compatibility fixes that generic Intel drivers may not have. Laptop manufacturers work closely with Intel to ensure their drivers support all the specific features and capabilities of your system.

To help troubleshoot this issue, I need some additional information:

  • Please run the Intel System Support Utility (SSU) and provide the generated report: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005511/processors.html
  • Did you use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) for a clean installation when you tried rolling back the driver?
  • What version of HDMI cables are you using? (HDMI 1.4, 2.0, 2.1, etc.) This can affect refresh rate capabilities at higher resolutions.
  • I suggest downloading the latest graphics driver directly from Acer's support website for your A514-56M model, as this will likely restore your 120Hz capability while maintaining full system compatibility.
  • Please provide the requested information, and I'll help you get your monitor back to 120Hz operation.

Best regards,
