120hz locked on uhd 620

I have a uhd 620 graphic card and i'm currently using a 165hz maximum frate monitor. But somehow it's capped at 120hz, i thought the problem was the hdmi cable (1.4 version) so i tried with a 2.0 and then with a 2.1 one. I tried everything but my computer keeps locking the maximum frate at 120hz for 1080p. I mean 120 hz is still good considering that the gaming performance with a i5 8250u and an integrated graphic card can't go over 120fps on most games but i'd like to know why does my computer automatically lock hz at 120. Is the graphic card uhd620 the problem or something else?

(haven't still tried with a display port because my computer dont have a port for that)

The best you can do with the HDMI 1.4 output from the processor is 4K@30Hz. This means you can get 2K@120Hz. That's going to be the limit with UHD620 processors.

If you could use DisplayPort (your processor supports DP 1.2), you would have 4K@60Hz and thus 2K to your monitor limit. Are you sure you don't have a USB-C port that supports either Thunderbolt 3 or DisplayPort Alt. Mode output?

Yes, the HDMI 1.4 interface of the UHD6x0 seems to be limited to 300 MHz pixel clock.

4K @ 30 Hz = 297 MHz

1080p @ 120 Hz = 285.5 MHz

1080p @ 144 Hz = 346.5 MHz
