15.46 breaks YCbCr on DP 1.2 to HDMI 2.0

After upgrading to the latest HD 530 driver for WIndows 10 x64, I noticed that choosing YCbCr causes signal loss to my screen. This option worked perfectly with the previous driver version 15.45 so I reverted back.

I'm using an i3-6100 with ASRock Deskmini and a 4K LG capable of 4:4:4 connected to PC over DP 1.2 and adapter to HDMI 2.0.

I haven't posted here before so please let me know what other information I can provide to help this along.

Thanks

Hello jun1us,

I understand that the YCbCr option is not working properly in latest graphics driver we have on our website.

Let me apologize for any inconvenience this issue may be causing to you.

In order to help you better I would like to gather more information about the configuration you have in the computer. Please attach to this thread the .txt file the Intel® System Support Utility will generate https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility

Please also attach the Intel Graphics Driver Report. This link will help you to generate it https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005848.html https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005848.html

To attach a file, you must click "Use Advanced Editor" on the upper right hand corner of the response box, then the "attach" option will appear on the bottom right hand corner of the response box.

Sorry for not getting back to you earlier on this issue.

I've been avoiding upgrading the graphics driver for the past few months as it continued to cause the issue I described earlier (on updated driver, selecting YCbCr would result in black screen, whereas old driver did not have this issue).

Today Microsoft ran an update to Windows 10 Creators and must have also updated video drivers for the HD 530. When I went into the graphics control panel and selected YCbCr in colour options I got a black screen. I am currently using the default colour option that works with 3840 x 2160 @ 60 hz (native to my screen). I will again try to roll back to the oldest Intel HD 530 driver available, hopefully it's the one I was using before the update ran.

In case I didn't mention it earlier, I am using a DP to HDMI adaptor in order to use HDMI 2.0 (4k 60hz w/chroma, hopefully).

I've attached the requested system & graphics info files.

Please let me know if I can be of any more help.

Thanks,

Julius

Hello jun1us,

Thanks for the information you sent to me.

I would like you to try updating some of the computer drivers in a specific order.

Please install this driver first, and then restart the computer http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Drivers/Intel/INF/INF(v10.1.1.13).zip http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Drivers/Intel/INF/INF(v10.1.1.13).zip

Install this other driver, and then restart the computer one more time http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Drivers/Intel/Others/ME(v11.6.0.1126_MEI).zip http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Drivers/Intel/Others/ME(v11.6.0.1126_MEI).zip

Last week we released newer version of the graphics driver and I would like you to give it a try. You can download it from this link https://downloadmirror.intel.com/27227/a08/win64_154521.4821.exe https://downloadmirror.intel.com/27227/a08/win64_154521.4821.exe

Let me know if issue persists or not.

Regards,

Hi Fred.

I installed the first two drivers as instructed without any improvement.

I should also mention that yesterday I upgraded? the CPU to an Intel Pentium G4600. When I tried the latest graphics driver it failed at setup (I believe it's because it's the 6th gen. skylake driver). Please send me a link to the latest 7th gen driver if you think it's worth trying.

In the meantime, I am reinstalling the old intel HD graphics driver from the manufacturer's website (http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Drivers/Intel/VGA/VGA(v21.20.16.4542).zip http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Drivers/Intel/VGA/VGA(v21.20.16.4542).zip ) which didn't have the chroma issue with the HD 530.

I will follow up if it works as it should.

Just following up from earlier post - earlier driver from asrock works.

YCbCr option can be enabled in Colour settings. Also, general settings show 'IT Content' and 'Quantization Range' settings, which I set to enabled and full range.

I'm attaching the system info reports generated now that the system works as it should with the old driver.

Update:

Driver 15.47 (latest) causes Netflix (both the app and in edge browser) to freeze at start. Chroma setting still breaks video.

Driver 15.46 allows Netflix to work and supports Ultra HD in the app but chroma still breaks video.

Driver 15.45 works same as driver from manufacturer site (asrock) with chroma and quantization working. However, Netflix Ultra HD not supported.

One final note. When upgrading from 15.45 with chroma enabled, during the upgrade process the screen blacks out (because chroma enabled from previous version but broken in new version). When this happens, only way to get back into windows is to restore to earlier restore point by booting Win 10 install disk (or replugging to Dsub)

Description

Using the original manufacturer driver for iGPU (21.20.16.4542) http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Drivers/Intel/VGA/VGA(v21.20.16.4542).zip http://asrock.pc.cdn.bitgravity.com/Drivers/Intel/VGA/VGA(v21.20.16.4542).zip

Intel Graphics Settings include options for full range quantization and YCbCr color palette. These options work with my hardware configuration and the manufacturer iGPU driver above at 3840 x 2160 60p over display port to hdmi 2.0 adapter.

When updating past this Intel graphics driver, the quantization option is no longer shown and in colour settings the YCbCr option breaks video (black screen).

This happens consistently in all drivers past the manufacturer driver, up to the current 15.60.0.4849.

This happens consistently when using DP and not when using the HDMI 1.4 port, which is limited to 30p at 3840x2160. When connected through the HDMI 1.4 output both the chroma and quantization settings are displayed and work in all drivers up to the latest, at 3840x2160 @ 30p.

When connected through DP, even at 30p, the chroma and quantization don't work past the manufacturer iGPU driver.

Hardware

Asrock DeskMini 110W/B/BB/US w/ Intel Pentium G4600; 8 GB DDR4 2133; ADATA SSD 256 GB

[connected over DP 1.2 port]

Club 3D DP to HDMI 2.0 adaptor: CAC-1070 | Rev. A4-00 FW: V7.2b | 1701

Wirelogic Sapphire HDMI 2.0 cable (4k 60P 4:4:4 HDR)

LG 55UX340C-UA Panel (4k, 10bit, 4:4:4, 3840x2160 native at 60hz)

Software

Windows 10 Pro 1709 with Intel 15.60.0.4849 iGPU driver @ 3840x2160 60p. This issue has remained unchanged from 1703 to current 1709.

Configuration

Single display (TV) connected from DP on PC, via DP to HDMI 2.0 adaptor, to TV's HDMI input. TV is set to use LG's "Ultra HD Deep Colour"

To reproduce

Using the configuration and software referenced above, attempt both HDMI and DP connections to PC at 3840x2160, using max allowable refresh rate for each, for both the latest and the superseded manufacturer driver noted above. In each instance, check to see status of Intel Graphics Properties. If outcome is different than what I have reported, specifically try the Club3d adaptor.

Update after clean reinstall of WIndows 10:

With the Pentium G4600 (installed in Deskmini 110);

after clean install on fresh SSD and all upgrades up to Windows 10 1709;

using Intel's latest HD graphics driver (15.47)

Using HDMI out (1.4) at 3840 x 2160 30p: YCbCr works, along with quantization to full range.

Using DP (1.2) out and connected through DP to HDMI 2.0 adaptor at 3840 x 2160 30p or 60p: YCbCr breaks video and quantization settings are not available.

I suspect that my issue with the Intel iGPU driver is somehow related to the fact that I'm using display port output from my H110 motherboard (Deskmini 110). With the manufacturer Intel graphics driver or Intel's 15.45 driver YCbCr works through display port over my DP to HDMI adaptor at 3840 x 2160 @ 60hz, and Quantization settings are available. Past 15.45, these settings don't work over DP.

Please help as I need to use the more current drivers to get Netflix streaming at 4k to work.

Thanks.

I have this exact same issue. After installing Windows 10 today, I was trying to get full RGB range on my TV, but I was missing the option in the Intel Graphics Settings. I also noticed when setting YCbCr on my screen I lost my signal to my TV. I knew it wasn't a hardware problem, because under Linux everything was working fine.

I also have my TV connected with a Displayport 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 adapter, the Club3D CAC-1070, to get 3840x2160 at 60 Hz. I'm using a Pentium G4600 with an Asus H710I Pro motherboard. When I connect my TV directly to the HDMI port on my motherboard everything works fine, and I have the Full RGB option again, but not with the Displayport-> HDMI adapter.

Luckily I found this thread. After downgrading to the driver version jun1us linked everything is working as it should. I noticed the older driver identifies my TV as an actual "Digital Television". With the newer driver the name of my TV in the Intel Graphics Settings was just my TV model, but with the older driver it says "Digital Television" before my TV model.

If there is more information I can provide to get this problem solved please let me know.

Update on December 12, 2017:

Latest intel driver for HD 630 (23.20.16.4877) does not appear to help resolve this issue in any way.

Awesome update to the settings interface though. Any way to disable the massive nerd face you added for gameplay.intel.com or am I stuck with it?

BTW, in "Preferences" what is "Display Port Topology Notification"?

Thanks.

Hello jun1us,

Newer version of the graphics driver has been released and I would like you to give it a try. You can download it from this link https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27412 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27412

The Display Port Topology Notification will allow you to manage multiple Displayport* monitors when they are connected through daisy chaining.

I will check if there is any way for you to change the Intel® Graphics Control Panel home screen.
