I am buying a monitor (interested in lg27ul550-w) and I am not sure if I am able to use 4k or 2k resolution provided by LG.
My computer :
Graphics card is an HD520, in an HP EliteBook 840 G3
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6300U CPU @ 2.40GHz
Can you help me to clarify the situation about having the monitor (lg27ul550-w, but also others) with higher resolutions, before actually buying it?
Regards,
Borut
(I attached SSU file too, if that helps)

If your laptop only has an HDMI connector, it may be limiting your capability. If you have a DisplayPort connector, on the other hand, you can establish a 4K@60Hz connection. I am accomplishing this using an Intel NUC6i5SYH (Core i5-6260U processor) and a 4K@60Hz-rated mDP-to-HDMI adapter. I am outputting to a 43" Samsung 6000 Series TV.
Hope this helps,

Thank you so much for your kind answer.
I have a display port on the computer, so I believe it will work.
Do I have to pay attention to possible different kinds (if there are at all) of display ports?
Regards,
Borut

Yes, there are two different connectors that you possibly might have, standard and mini. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort for more information.
