5k 5120 * 2160 resolution on Intel UHD Graphics not working for me

Dear Community,

I recently switched from a MacBook Pro (2018) to a brand new Lenovo T15.

With the Mac I was using an LG 34WK95U-W 5k screen with a resolution of 5120 * 2160.

It seems that the maximum resolution I can get with the Lenovo (running Windows 10) is

I have installed the driver for the screen, I have installed the latest Intel UHD driver that Lenovo offers, but no luck.

I guess my first question is: Is the Lenovo even able to power a 5k display. It has the following processor:

  • Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10610U CPU @ 1.80GHz 2.30 GHz
  • The Intel UHD driver is from 2022-08-24 and has the version number 31-0.101.2114
  • Latest LG 5k driver for Windows 10 is installed (LG HDR 5K (Display Port)

I connect the LG screen via display port (1.4 (I also tried 1.2 and 1.1)) to a Dell docking station and then via USB-C/Thunderbolt to the Lenovo. (When I connect the docking station to my Mac it works immediately. So I know that the display port and the docking station itself can handle 5k)

BTW, if I try to connect directly via Thunderbolt to the Lenovo, the whole display stays black.

Thanks for your suggestions / help.

Your processor's graphics output capabilities are as follows:

As you can see, there is no support for 5K monitors (certainly not at 60Hz). If you can connect the monitor via DisplayPort or Thunderbolt Port, you could try creating a custom configuration that is set for 5120x2160@30Hz.

I don't recommend attempting this using the dock. I would recommend trying it with a USB-C-to-HDMI 2.0 adapter.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for your clarification Scott!
