Product: HP Envy

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-Bit)

Got alert for 3 updates from Intel today and 2 went fine. The 3rd wouldnt install. Spoke to HP but they are useless and just want you to pay for additonal support.

Just look at the pictures. Prettu much says it all, esoecually last one where I UPDATED driver thu Device Manager and it says I have LATEST driver.

To install the DCH drivers, my understanding is that you need to manually uninstall the older drivers first.

Re: 620 Intel Update driver 6471 on 12.30.2018 WONT install.

Hi, thanks for the idea, BUT the 1 thing I have learned about these updates and especially HP where you CAN'T get software help is NOT to FORCE anything.

As I said above I uninstalled my current driver and then upon Restart it should have looked and found the most current version - which it did that was 6444 and not this new DCH(?) one.

Re: 620 Intel Update driver 6471 on 12.30.2018 WONT install.

Hello APols1 Thank you for posting in the Intel Community. • Try to manually uninstall the current driver version following the steps below: 1. On the keyboard, press WinLogo key + R, then type in devmgmt.msc 2. Expand the Display Adapters section. 3. Find the Intel® Graphics Driver. The driver can also be called the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver (Intel® GMA Driver). 4. Right-click the Intel Graphics Driver and select Uninstall. 5. Select the check box “Delete” the driver software for this device. 6. Reboot the computer after the uninstall process has finished. • Once you have complete this process install the Intel® driver version DCH 25.20.100.6471 (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28445/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10?product=126789); my recordation is to download de driver fist then make sure that the system does not have internet connection to uninstall the current driver version and install the new driver, this is to avoid any automatic driver update. • Please attach to this thread the TXT file the Intel® System Support Utility will generate: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility • Steps to save the report: 1- Run the utility. 2- Click on “Scan” to get the scanned system. 3- Once the scan is complete click on “next”. 4- Use the “save” option, save the report to your desktop. 5- To attach a file, you must click the “Attach” option on the bottom left-hand corner of the response box. Hope this helps. Regards, Leonardo C. Intel Customer Support Technician Under Contract to Intel Corporation

Re: 620 Intel Update driver 6471 on 12.30.2018 WONT install.

6444 *is* the DCH driver.

Oh, and if you knew HP was so bad for support (which I could have told you many years ago), why would you buy their horrible crap anyway?

Re: 620 Intel Update driver 6471 on 12.30.2018 WONT install.

Thanks BUT according to Intel the NEWEST DCH driver is 6471 and that WONT install.

Intel did send more ways to FORCE install it... see reply by LeoC_Intel…. BUT I wont do that right now.

This entire thing is VERY poorly coordinated between Intel and computer makers like HP

RE: "I do NOT want to be the Guinea pig"

Good God man, every Windows (or Linux, for that matter) user is a Guinea Pig. Over time, Microsoft has been constantly reducing the amount of testing that they do and letting the end-users find the bugs for them. They argue that it is the "early adopters" that are finding the bugs, but the fact is, many (many!) make it through to the (normal) end-user. Look at the 1809 launch (a.k.a. disaster) as an example. At the same time, Microsoft has chosen to launch on schedule despite there being a great many (in one case, I heard, 60,000) sightings in their database (a sighting is an as yet to be investigated anomaly).

I should have been more explicit and said that 6444 was the first DCH driver release.

While I didn't do so within this conversation, my instructions (cut-and-pasted from another conversation) for this situation were as follows:

  1. Download the UWD/DCH graphics driver that you want to install.
  2. Disconnect system from internet. Unplug Ethernet cable and/or disable wireless.
  3. From the Apps and Features Settings scene, uninstall the old graphics driver.
  4. Reboot.
  5. Install the UWD/DCH graphics driver.
  6. Reconnect to internet.

"Good God man, every Windows (or Linux, for that matter) user is a Guinea Pig."

yeah well after the 1809 thing which STILL has issues even at this date: ie NO auto Update (which actually has turned out to be a good thing) I've had it with being a 1st responder.

Thanks for that info. I saw it somewhere else BUT quote about NO going back to the future has convinced me that I will wait this upgrade out. When HP has it on their update list then I will think about it.

Thanks for the honesty.

Keep up the good work.
