Blinking when opening windows and errors in games (i7-12700k UHD770)

When opening windows, there is a rapid flashing that interferes. There were also crashes in Terraria games (the reason is DirectX 9, I will attach a photo of the error). The problem started on Windows 11, then installed Windows 10, but the problem was not solved. All drivers installed the latest (30.0.101.1273).
Setup:
Gigabyte z690 aorus elite DDR4
Intel Core i7-12700k
RAM KF432C16RBAK4\32
Power unit: Gigabyte P850GM
SSD: 980 Pro
When assembling, I inserted the video card power cable into the additional power supply of the processor, but then changed it as needed. Could this have caused damage?

Hello Shelven,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I am sorry to know that you are having issues with your Intel® UHD Graphics 770.

In order to better assist you, please provide the following:

1. Is this issue recent? If so, when did it start?

2. Does this happen with other games or apps? If so, which games/apps?

3. Just to confirm, does this happen with the latest Intel driver version 31.0.101.3222 and 31.0.101.2111?

4. Just to confirm, do you have the latest BIOS version F7 installed?

Thanks for the answer!
1. It started after I overclocked the RAM to 3733mhz, but now there is no overclocking.
2. When opening the chrome browser, when opening the full screen mode in Terraria, Minecraft games (and Telegram Desktop). I have not tried it in others, because there is no video card.
3. Yes, the problem remains on version 31.0.101.3222.
4. Yes, I have the latest BIOS version installed for this motherboard model.

Hello Shelven,

Thanks for the information provided. Bear in mind that by overclocking the RAM you may also damage the CPU since it is connected to the RAM through the memory controller.

In order to continue, please confirm the following:

1. Did you load the BIOS to default settings?

2. Did you perform a clean installation of Windows when you install Windows 10?

3. Did you perform a clean install of the Intel drivers?

Good afternoon!
1. When installing, the BIOS was in the factory settings
2. I have only two memory disks. 1.C - SSD and 2.D-HDD
Before installing Windows, I formatted the C drive and installed a clean Windows 10 on it.
3. Yes, before installing the driver, I first uninstalled the previous ones and then installed the new one.

Additionally
The problem started during assembly. I had a used GTX 1080 Ti graphics card and when playing games would freeze after 5 minutes and have to restart the computer. I thought it was a video card and returned it to the seller. Why did I try to play on the built-in video core and there were crashes, but very rarely. There were no flickering at that time. Then I decided to try to overclock the RAM (didn't increase the voltage!). The first results were very deplorable (I'll attach a screenshot). But a month after updating the BIOS, the results improved slightly (I'll attach a screenshot).

During the tests, all extraneous programs were closed.

I have similar hardware, I7-12700 on a Gigabyte B660 DS3H motherboard with no overclocking on either the CPU or RAM. I am also using Intel UHD 770 Graphics Driver

I installed the Intel Driver Support & Assistant app and was soon notified of a graphics display driver update. Soon after the update I noticed a "blinking" or momentary pause while watching YouTube videos and would repeat every two or three minutes. This "blinking" never happened on my own .MP4 files stored locally or off my web server so I assumed it was probably just one of those strange things that YouTube does with their video processing. I subsequently went through several Intel Display updates and the momentary blinking either remained the same or the blinking seemed to be pausing for a longer period of time, probably up to 500 ms which is easily noticeable.

But then I recently discovered the inability of MS Outlook to output a QR Code to either a printer or to a PDF file without truncating the right side or the bottom side of the image.  I'm using MS Office 2021 Pro Plus which is also utilized on my wife's computer. However she is using Intel UHD 630 Display Driver and she does not experience any truncation of the same exact QR Code which is actually a PNG file. Other users having other versions of MS Office and other display drivers do not experience the anomaly. Any other sample QR Code which I would download and send to myself via Outlook would look fine on the monitor but a printed copy or a PDF would show the truncated effect. I've had some discussions on the Outlook Community Support forums but finding another users with similar hardware and the same MS Office is very difficult.

Until it was suggested that I revert back to the OEM Gigabyte supplied driver. So I uninstalled the Intel driver 31.0.101.3222 (dated 7/11/2022) and re-installed the OEM version 30.0.101.1002 (dated 10/13/2021). The result was a stable system with no blinking or pausing while on YouTube and the correct output of QR Code images from MS Outlook.

I suspect the driver updates for UHD 770 graphics may have some low-level incompatibility with I7-12700 or perhaps only with Gigabyte boards. Only the future will tell as other users become aware of these inconsistencies.

I would suggest that the OP revert his graphic driver to the OEM supplied version and see what consequence it has on his system. He can download such a driver from the motherboard's support for drivers for that specific board. I'm curious to see what happens and I suspect Intel would also be curious.

Attached is an image showing the truncation within Outlook of outputs to either printer or PDF. Note that rolling back the graphics driver to the OEM supplied version solved this problem as well as the "blinking" in YouTube videos.

Hello Shelven,

Thanks for your patience. I would like to let you know that I was not able to replicate the issues with the games, I did not get the same problems using the latest Intel driver.

For the green bar on Discord, Intel is currently working on a fix. As per the issue with the screen flashing and the overclocking performed to the CPU, I would like to confirm the following:

1. Does this flashing happens with every single app you run or is it with certain apps (Chrome)?

2. If it happens on different apps, does this start happening after the clean installation of the operating system, both before and after?

3. Did you overclock the processor via Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (Intel® XMP) or did he do the change manually?

The flashing screen issue seems like an expected behavior as it only happened at that moment (opening the browser) and not while using it. I found a thread on Reddit talking about this, with a video as well. It seems to be a rendering issue with the app.

Hi @Baldy95307 , thanks for sharing your experience, I recommend you open a new thread so you can get proper support.
