Hello AMD_SUXX_69

Thank you for your patience in this matter.

We would like to inform you that we performed a LAB on a laptop with Intel® Iris® Xe graphics and we did not see the same behavior. We followed these steps so you can check if we missed something:

  • Initially, we tested the game Realistic Zombie Survival Warfare using the customized driver from the laptop manufacturer (OEM). We had this game open in one tab and a web page with a white background on another tab. We played the game first and then moved on to the other page and didn't experience any brightness change. We even changed the brightness manually to make the game dimmer and there were no changes. We did the same test using the Intel generic driver and there were no brightness changes between the two.

It is important to keep in mind that brightness, battery, and power settings may vary depending on the model and OEM system design and configuration, so our best recommendation, based on the fact that we did not experience the same issue, is to contact DELL* Support for further support and guidance, they may be able to perform the LAB using the same laptop model that you have.

Hello @AMD_SUXX_69

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

In order to review this further, could you please provide the following information?

1- Is this a new system? Did the computer work fine before or are you experiencing this behavior since the first day that you have the device?

2- If this worked fine before at any moment, were there any recent hardware or software changes that might relate to the point when the behavior started? (For instance, Windows®, driver, BIOS, or software/game updates?)

3- Based on the system model, we understand that this is a laptop. Just to make sure, is the happening on the built-in display, on an external display, or on both?

4- What are the games affected by this behavior? Please provide the exact game titles and versions:

5- Is the behavior happening when the system is plugged into the power source, when using only battery, or with both?

6-Report for Intel® Graphics Drivers following the steps on the link. If you use external monitors to play the games, make sure the monitors in question are connected to the computer when generating the report.

7- Run the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) to gather more details about the system:

  • Download the Intel® SSU and save the application on your computer
  • Open the application, check the "Everything" checkbox, and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. The Intel® SSU defaults to the "Summary View" on the output screen following the scan. Click the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".
  • To save your scan, click Next and click Save.
  • Once you have saved the file (.txt file), please attach it to your reply.

To upload and attach a file, use the "Drag and drop here or browse files to attach" option below the response textbox.

Hello AMD_SUXX_69

Thank you for your response.

Let's try the following steps to see if this helps with this behavior:

1- Make sure you have the latest Windows® Updates and run any pending updates and restart the system.

2- Perform a Clean Installation of Intel® Graphics Drivers in Windows* using Dell's driver Intel UHD/Iris Xe/Iris Plus Graphics Driver Version 30.0.101.1191, A03.

You may start the process from Step 6. During the process, please make sure all steps are followed, including disconnecting from the Internet and making sure you get to the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter before trying to install the graphics driver.

If the behavior persists, please continue with the next steps.

3- Disable Display Power Saving Technology in the Intel® Graphics Command Center:

  1. Open the Intel® Graphics Command Center
  2. Select System
  3. Select Power
  4. In On Battery, disable display Power Savings
  5. Set Power Plan to Maximum Performance
  6. Save changes and exit.

4- Try disabling the Adaptive Brightness Setting option on Windows:

  1. Select the Windows* Start button, then select Settings
  2. Click/tap on Display on the left side, and uncheck Change brightness automatically when lighting changes on the right side under Brightness and color.

5- If the 'Adaptive brightness' setting in Windows is not found or if the behavior persists, another option could be to adjust it in the BIOS has this feature. For instance, some laptops may have an option in the BIOS > Display menu > Ecopower (untick the checkbox). However, the feature may have a different name or not be available. Check with DELL Support* for additional information and guidance on this matter.

6- We would also recommend checking with Dell* Support that you have the latest recommended driver for the discrete Graphics NVIDIA* and the proper settings on the NVIDIA Control Panel.

1) It's latest

2)  Done, issue still there

3) Already on maximum performance.

4) No such feature

5) EcoPower turned off in bios

6) Already Clean installed windows and checked dell update program.

It's okay if you can't solve the problem, will buy a laptop with better display next time lol.

@AndrewG_Intel  Thanks a lot for helping man.

I think the problem may be with the type of monitor my laptop has.

As it is only 220 nits display, for gaming i guess higher nits would be required.

Anyways thanks !!!

Thank you for your response and for the feedback. In this case, our final advice is to review this with Dell* Support to confirm display capabilities.
