Can Hd 5500 output 2560x1400?

I've seen places where it says that it can but when I look at all the available modes it doesn't feature this resolution. My Monitor can, the cable can, I need to know if the 5500 can.

what type of connection are you trying to use? VGA connector can't support high resolutions period (1920x1200, I believe). if you are connecting via DVI connector/cable, please note that Intel display controller only supports DVI single link, not DVI dual link. DVI single link is approximately same max resolution as VGA; DVI-D would be required for higher resolution.

If you are connecting via DP or HDMI, 25x14 should work.

Thanks for the reply. Funnily enough I bought a DVI-D because I wasn't sure about the HDMI. Sadly neither give me the option for 25x14. I've done loads of research because I bought an expensive monitor just so I could get 25x14 and apparently it's an issue with Windows 10 compatibility. I've heard that they are working on updated drivers but there was an update on the 10 Sept 2015. Oh how excited I got but to no avail. Its stupid that the mini display port can't output higher than the built in display (1080p)

I would like a real update on this because my whole reason for buying this XPS 13inch laptop was so that it could output high res to a monitor. Its shocking that I'm unable to do this.

Hi Tobstar,

The maximum resolutions per video port output are the following:

DisplayPort 1.2 and eDP: 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz

HDMI*: 4096 x 2304, 3840 x 2160 @ 24 Hz / 24bppDVI: 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz

Video Adapters usually downgrade TV resolutions.

Thanks for the help by the way. The question remains - why doesn't the DisplayPort to HDMI cable that I bought, which said that it could output 2560x1440, not work then? The Monitor can as stated in the graphics report, your telling me that the card can do it as my research said but the software simply doesn't offer me that resolution?

This really shouldn't be so complicated.

RESOLVED.

It was indeed the cable. Had to be the fancy pants Display port to weird HDMI (there was me thinking that HDMI was standard)
