I have a Carbon X1 Model 20A7 and recently upgraded to windows 10. Currently it is using the Microsoft Basic Display driver and I have no ability to change any display settings. In the Device Manager, the Intel HD Graphics Family has a yellow triangle in it. I have updated the driver to version 20.19.15.4444. Every third reboot the display is stretched out and very fuzzy. I want to get the display adapter working correctly. Can anyone help?

There is a new graphics driver version you may need to try on your computer.
I have placed the link below:

That does not work. it tells me that the driver is not compatible with my machine and will not install. Still shows the 20.19.15.4444 version installed in Device Manager and Windows Basic Display Driver in the Adapter settings.

That message indicates that your computer manufacturer does not allow the installation of generic Intel video drives. You are required to install drivers from your computer manufacturer; however, you may try forcing the installation of Intel generic drivers manually, see here for instructions:

Nothing would allow me to do it until I did a reset of Windows 10. Once I did that, it worked fine. Only a day and a half of work to do it however!

It might be that your computer model requires customized driver from your computer manufacturer.
Try getting drivers from Lenovo:
