Dell M3800 4K screen lag in UI/animations Intel HD 4600.

Hello,

I have a Dell Precision M3800 with 4K screen, i7-4712HQ, 16GB RAM, Quadro K1100M using Windows 10 Spring Update.

UI animations (especially Win+Tab animations) are choppy and generally UI lags. What should i do ?

I have already installed latest BIOS and graphics drivers from Dell Support site.

Thanks

Your issue sounds like what is described in post # 1 here:

Look at post # 707 here:

If this is your problem, a fix is needed from Microsoft and/or Nvidia.

I have already seen this post. This is not the problem i am encountering. UI animations lag all the time. I don't have any stutters or "lag" while opening new windows

Hello, marios199546. Thank you very much for contacting the Intel Communities Team. I will be more than happy to assist you.

In order for me to assist you better, please provide me with a DxDiag* report. Please follow these steps to generate it:

1. In the keyboard, press WinLogo key + R.2. In the Run box please type dxdiag and hit Enter.

3. Click on Save All Information (save it to your desktop).

4. Attach the .txt file that was generated. To attach a file, you must click the "Attach" option on the bottom right-hand corner of the response box.

Additionally, please attach a screenshot of the Device manager > Display adapter.

This sounds like/message/546928# 546928 the same problem I am reporting on here.

Could you verify whether you can also /message/546928# 546928 reproduce the other issues I reported? (steps to reproduce and videos can be found in that post)

1. Opening up Task View on 4k always has reduced performance compared to full HD

2. Scrolling in list view of Windows explorer lags and maxes out GPU

3. Scrolling in some applications is unacceptably slow for a high-end system

4. Window animations of larger windows are less smooth than window animations of smaller windows

5. Some games run smooth in windowed mode, yet rendered at the same resolution, stutter when full screen

Yes i have all these issues. I was able to improve things a bit by removing Dell's HD4600 drivers and installing the latest one from Intel site. But again i have these issues, especially the windows + Tab animation

Thank you very much for sharing that information, marios199546.

I can see that you are using the latest Intel® HD Graphics generic drivers on your system. Please try installing the latest graphics drivers provided by your system manufacturer. This is the download link: https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER04843735M/1/Intel-HD-4600-Graphics-Driver_VMMF7_WIN_20.19.15.4835_A04.EXE https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER04843735M/1/Intel-HD-4600-Graphics-Driver_VMMF7_WIN_20.19.15.4835_A04.EXE

In addition, please attach to the thread a screenshot of the Manage 3D settings in the Nvidia* control panel. To access it, right-click on the desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel > Click Manage 3D settings in Select a Task.

Thank you for your reply, marios199546.

Please try the following: In the NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D settings in Select a Task > Select Integrated Graphics from the drop-down. Check if the issue is presented using the graphics controller.

Then, repeat those steps and then select High-performance NVIDIA processor and verify if the issue is presented using the NVIDIA* graphics controller.

Please let us know with which controller this issue is presented or if it occurs with both.
