Hello,
I have a Dell Precision M3800 with 4K screen, i7-4712HQ, 16GB RAM, Quadro K1100M using Windows 10 Spring Update.
UI animations (especially Win+Tab animations) are choppy and generally UI lags. What should i do ?
I have already installed latest BIOS and graphics drivers from Dell Support site.
Thanks

Hello, marios199546. Thank you very much for your patience.
I tried to replicate this issue at our labs using a DELL* XPS* 15 9530 which has an Intel® HD Graphics 4600 controller and an NVIDIA* GeForce* GT 750M card. I used Windows 10* build 17134 and installed the 4963 graphics drivers for the Intel® HD Graphics controller. However, the issue was not presented during my tests.
By checking the reports attached previously, I can see that the graphics drivers installed are the 4889. Please install the 4963 drivers. Here is the download link: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/27780/a08/win64_15.40.38.4963.zip https://downloadmirror.intel.com/27780/a08/win64_15.40.38.4963.zip
In order to install the graphics drivers please follow these steps: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005629/graphics-drivers.html https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005629/graphics-drivers.html
Let us know how it goes.

As i said previously the latest Intel drivers work better than the Dell one's. In your tests was the UI buttery smooth ? Also it's true that after the Windows 10 April 2018(build 1803) update UI is lagging a bit more. That's a result of the Fluent design animations.
For over a week , i use the latest intel drivers and before installing them, i made a full unistall using DDU(http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 17.0.9.0 ) and the UI is smoother . Thanks for the reply. I hope you can test it with the latest build of Windows and to fully reproduce the issue

Thank you for your prompt response, marios199546.
During my tests, the UI was smooth, without any lag. I was using the Windows 10* Aprils Update (cf. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/itpro/windows-10/release-information Windows 10 release information, OS build section).
I would like to clarify the last line of your post, after using the Intel® HD Graphics drivers, the issue is no longer occurring on your system?

My bad. We use the OS build. With a clean install of latest install of Intel drivers , UI is definitely smoother but not lag free. If i disable Fluent design(Settings > Personalization > Colors > Disable transparency) , i get an almost 60fps UI. I want to ask you . DId you make a fresh OS install ? And which BIOS version are you using ?.

Thank you for your input, marios199546.
I did use a clean installation of Windows 10* and, I used the A04.00 BIOS version.

My problem still remains. They are two possible causes for this problem.
- Intel HD4600 is not powerful enough to provide 4K@60fps UI in Windows 10 April 2018 (which uses fluent design transparency effects)(Disabling these but not a lot)
- There is a compatibility issue with driver and latest Windows update.
I have tried all possible resolutions we discussed in this post. If you can recommend anything else , i will happily try it

Thank you for your response, marios199546.
As per you processor's specifications (cf. https://ark.intel.com/products/78932/Intel-Core-i7-4712HQ-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_30-GHz Intel® Core™ i7-4712HQ Processor, Processor Graphics section), the graphics controller on it should handle the resolution you are looking for. Then, we have tested with both, DELL* and Intel drivers, however, the issue persists. Therefore, I recommend you at this point to get in touch with https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04 DELL* Support so they can help you further regarding this matter.

Your argument is wrong. The supported video output to a display is different from rendering an UI at 4K@60fps. I don't think Dell will provide any solution to this. (I have already created a post). If any of your engineers can take a look at it, it would be great.

Hello, marios199546.
The Intel® HD Graphics 4600 controller should be able to handle your configuration. I encourage you to double check this issue with DELL* Support so they might be able to restore your Operating System or provide another solution.

I tried Dell Support but they only told me to install latest drivers. I have also made "Reset Windows 10" and reinstalled the latest drivers from Intel support site. The problem still exists

Hello, marios199546.
This can be related to a defective RAM module or any other hardware component of the system. DELL* Support should provide with further troubleshooting or offer an RMA if possible.

RMA not an option. I have already checked RAM with Dell's RAM check. RAM works flawlessly

Sorry, this is not an Intel product. You must contact the manufacturer for support. However, you can find the latest driver here: Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.33] Doc
