Hi, I have been having this same problem of my laptop freezing and then after about 3 minutes returning with a message "display driver intel graphics accelerator drivers for windows 7 stopped responding and has successfully recovered". I've tried updating the drivers/rolling them back, but the problem persists. Could it be a hardware problem? I'm using a Lenovo Ideapad z570 on windows 7 64 bit.

Hello James_c,
It is very important for you to install always the driver provided by the Computer Manufacture first.
We have generic software that can be installed on your system but installing it on your system you may loss special features that the Computer Manufacture has implemented specifically for your system. Here you can download the driver:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23764&lang=eng&ProdId=3319 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23764&lang=eng&ProdId=3319
If you have problems during the installation, try the steps mentioned here:
/docs/DOC-22542 https://communities.intel.com/docs/DOC-22542
I also think you should consider updating the BIOS on your system.

As per instructions for the same problem on the Lenovo website, I deleted then re installed the Intel driver to my specific laptop, but the problem has not been solved. Checking available drivers for my laptop, I also have the latest BIOS. Hello James_c
The current driver you have based on the report is very old. From our side, we can offer you installing the latest generic driver we have but if it is not working I think it may be needed to update all drivers including the BIOS and Management Engine but if the driver is still not working on your system you should contact the Computer Manufacture.
Another thing that could be affecting may be an error or registry key affected on the Operating System causing problems so reinstalling the Operating System is another way to go.

According to Lenovo support page for my specific laptop, there are no bios updates or any display driver updates beyond 2011, where would I download a newer one that is compatible?

The BIOS is provided by the Computer Manufacture only. You can try installing our generic management engine driver at this link:
