- Question: Given that Intel's 975X chipset has been around for several years now, does Windows 7 already come with the proper drivers for this chipset, or do I still have to install the drivers separately?
- Background: About 4 years ago I built a computer, using Asus' P5W DH Deluxe motherboard (975X Intel chipset) and Windows XP Pro as the O/S. The motherboard came with a CD including Windows XP and Vista drivers for the 975X Intel chipset. Recently, my hard-drive failed, so I replaced it with a new one and installed Windows 7 Ultimate.
- Relevant Notes: Given that the P5W DH Deluxe motherboard is no longer being supported, Asus is not providing Windows 7 drivers for that board. Intel has some drivers in the support website, but I would rather skip unnecessary steps. If Windows 7 has already the necessary drivers for the 975X Intel chipset, I would rather keep the ones that came with Windows 7.
Thanks in advance for your help.
