Elden Ring Nightreign on Intel Iris Xe Graphics

When Elden Ring Nightreign was launched, I installed it on my PC (i5-1135G7 Intel Iris Xe Graphics), and I came across the problem that when starting the game, a white screen appeared and closed after a few seconds. I already had the most recent driver installed when I downloaded the game (32.0.101.6795), which even promised support for the game in question, and later that same day I installed the newly released driver (32.0.101.6874 WHQL) in the hope that they would correct the error, something that did not happen. Please fix this ridiculous error intel, even if the video card is not in the game's minimum requirements (GTX 1060 3gb or RX 580) The same previous game, Elden Ring and its expansion Shadow of the Erdtree work completely fine on this video card (Remembering that Elden Ring base and Nightreign have the same video card requirements) so by logic of 1 + 1 Nightreign should also at least open in this configuration, release a fix as soon as possible, it is disrespectful to those who use their integrated cards and were waiting for the game.

Yes, we can't give up, they have to understand that even people who don't have the most current processors deserve support and respect, if we leave it alone, worse and worse drivers will come out for Intel Xe Graphics, it's disrespectful to us. We'll keep on their toes until they do something real.

Hi SalesDW,

Thank you for reaching out to the Intel Community Forum. To assist us in investigating the issue, please provide the following details:

  • Have you tried using the OEM driver for testing?
  • Does the issue occur only when starting the game? Or does it also happen during regular gameplay or menus?
  • When did the issue start? Was it after a specific driver update or game patch?
  • What are the troubleshooting steps that you tried so far?
  • Have you used DDU to completely remove all residual drivers and installed a new one?
  • Have you tried adjusting the graphics settings?
  • Could you provide a screenshot of your in-game display and graphics settings?
  • Which gaming platform did you use to download the game?

Additionally, to gain a comprehensive understanding of your system, please use the System Support Utility (SSU). This tool will generate a text file compiling all your system information. You can follow the instructions at this link and send the text file here. Help Guide for the Intel® System Support Utility.

If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you.

Hello, thank you very much for your reply.

1. Yes, I tested it with 4 drivers theoretically, and each one gave a different result: When the game launched, I had driver 32.0.101.6795, the game didn't open, it showed a white screen and closed 1 second later, the same happened with driver 32.0.101.6874 WHQL that came out later that same day, after that I tested the OEM driver for my notebook, which is dated 2021, I won't know the exact number for you, the game opened, it even ran normally but it gave a completely red screen, completely unplayable, in the 4th case, I disabled the driver and used the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, in this case, a red screen didn't occur, but the game was practically unplayable, with the fps varying between 1 and 4.

2. Yes, it only happens when you try to open the game, as I said before, you try to open it, a white screen appears, the icon changes mouse, but then 1 or 2 seconds later the game closes, without any error screens or anything like that.

3. Well, the game has been like this since it was released, so I can't say exactly, but with the OEM driver for my notebook (which is very outdated and from 2021) the game opens even with the red screen and all buggy, so the problem is probably some conflict between some change that occurred in the drivers in the last few years, I don't understand much about it.

4. I've tried most things you can imagine, VisualC++, updating Windows, updating DirectX, running as administrator, compatibility mode, disabling full screen optimizations, downgrading the driver, using DDU, etc...

5. Yes, I've tried, more than once, I first tried using DDU and reinstalling the 32.0.101.6795 driver which was the latest at the time the game was released, and later that same day I used DDU again to install 32.0.101.6874 WHQL, in neither case did it solve the problem.

6. Yes, I've tried, I play a lot of regular Elden Ring, so I know how and where the graphics configuration files for Fromsoftware games are generated (appdata/roaming). I set the graphics settings to the lowest possible before trying to open them, I've tested several different graphics options, none of them make the game open.

7. Well, the game won't open, so unfortunately I can't provide that.

8. Steam

Oh, I forgot to mention, this wasn't discovered by me specifically, in fact I found this on some Reddit forums, and apparently this problem occurs in the game because when trying to read a file responsible for DirectX12 in the video card driver it gives an error that causes the crash, the error code is: INVALID_POINTER_READ_c0000005_igd12um64xel.dll!Unknown.
