Glitching MSI Laptop Display on Intel UHD Graphics 630

Help!!!  Glitchy display:  https://youtu.be/QhMg_SiBbww

This is a Intel UHD Graphics 630 running on a GS65 Stealth Thin 8RF MS-16Q2 (Intel 8th Gen Core i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz).  I tried switching the display from the to the installed Intel UHD Graphics 630  to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 with Max-Q Design but it won't let me.

Does this look like hardware (loose connector) or software (drivers)?  The problem persists in Windows, Linux, and in the Bios.  And external display works fine.  I think the problem is software because when I switch from 144hz to 60hz, the problem subsides momentarily (5 or 6 seconds).

So the Intel support engineers can have more information about your system, Download, run, and save the results of this utility as a text file:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility

Then ATTACH the text file using the instructions under the reply window ( Drag and drop here or browse files to attach ).

Evmore, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.

I just wanted to check if the problem with the display of the laptop still persists and if you need assistance on this matter?

Hello Evmore, Thank you very much for providing the SSU report.

We are sorry to hear that the problem remains. According to the details showing in the SSU report we can confirm that the latest Intel® Generic Graphics driver version 27.20.100.8681 is already properly installed.

Based on the fact that the issue persists in Windows, Linux, and in the BIOS and that an external monitor works fine, everything indicates as you mentioned previously, that there might be a hardware issue with the laptop itself, could be related to the flex that connects the motherboard with the build-in display.

So, for this scenario the best thing to do will be to get in contact directly with MSI to verify if there are any reports in reference to this scenario and to gather the instruction to do a BIOS update to the latest version which is E16Q2IMS.112:

https://www.msi.com/Laptop/support/GS65-Stealth-Thin-8RF

If the issue remains after that, then a replacement of the computer will be needed and MSI itself should be able to provide the warranty options that they have available for you for this situation:

https://www.msi.com/support

Any questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Albert R.
