Graphics board driver for Ultra-wide monitor

Windows Update turned my ultra-wide monitor (2560x1080) into just a wide monitor (1920x1080).
The other day, I updated to Windows 11 Version 22H2 update via Windows update.
Then, the driver of the connected ultrawide monitor was updated, or it became just a wide monitor resolution (1920x1080: the highest resolution).

First, the specs are as follows
DELL Inspiron 3593
Windows 11 Home 22H2

Monitor
LG Ultra Wide Monitor 29UC88-B HDMI connection

Graphics board (display adapter)
Intel UHD Graphics

Intel Drivers & Support Assistant
Graphics drivers have been updated to the latest version.

Intel® UHD Graphics
Provider Intel Corporation
Version 31.0.101.2111
Date 2022/07/19

However, 1920x1080 is still the highest resolution available, and 2560x1080 can be used.
Please advise how to do this.

Hello bigwest,

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities.

In order to have a better understanding of your issue, please provide me with the following:

  • Was the Windows update the only software change before the issue started?
  • Are you using adapters to connect your system and monitor?
  • Create a report using the following Intel software:

  • Create a report using the Intel® Graphics Command Center:
    • Open the Intel Graphics Command Center
    • Navigate to the Support tab
    • Select System Diagnostic
    • Click Generate Report
    • Select Save and name the output file.

Also, it is important to mention that we always recommend installing the latest Driver developed by the system manufacturer. There are two different types of drivers, generics provided by Intel and Equipment Manufacturer drivers, that are customized to work with each specific system. The best thing to do is to use the drivers provided by the system manufacturer (OEM), version 27.20.100.9365.

Hi Jean,

Thank you for your response.

  • Was the Windows update the only software change before the issue started?

Yes, it was.

  • Are you using adapters to connect your system and monitor?

Probably yes.
My computer is a Dell Inspiron 3593 and it appears to have Intel UHD Graphics as a display adapter.

  • Create a report using the following Intel software:
  • Create a report using the Intel® Graphics Command Center:

I saved the report text file from the two systems you directed me to.
After that what should I do?

Best regards,
bigwest

Hello bigwest,

Thanks for your reply.

Based on the information, I would still confirm some information about the details of the issue behavior.

  • You mentioned that there was a software change before the issue started. Do you recall if it was a Windows, driver update?
  • Regarding the Adapters, what I meant was if you are using straight connections between your system and monitor (eg. HDMI to HDMI) or if you are using any graphics converter (eg. HDMI or DP)
  • You have saved the report files. Could you attach them to your next response? They will provide us with information such as drivers, Operating system, BIOS version, and supported graphics resolutions.

Hello Jean,

Thank you for your reply.

  • I don't remember if it was a windows update or a graphics driver update.
Last year it did not support ultra-wide monitor (2560x1080), but on March 15 of this year I noticed that the driver was updated (I don't think it was on this date) and ultra-wide monitor is now available! I have not been able to use the ultra-wide monitor since the last update.
However, on April 1, the driver was updated again and ultra-wide monitor was no longer available, so I downgraded the driver.
(This is also the date the driver was updated for my PC).
  •  HDMI to HDMI
  • I have attached the files.

Best regards,
Bigwest

Have you tried rolling the drivers back to 30.0.101.1631 from Intel or (Dell 30.0.101.1631, A02)? I'll bet you it fixes your problem.  I'm certain there is a bug that either Dell or Intel need to fix in newer drivers.

Thank you for you reply.

I downloaded the 30.0.101.1631_A00.EXE and run it.
But it does not installed.

Hello bigwest,

Thanks for your reply.

This time I would recommend you a clean instalation of the latest Intel graphics driver 31.0.101.2111. Sometimes corrupted files from previous installations of drivers can linger on a system which can cause driver updates to not work as expected. Remember that Intel’s generic graphics drivers are intended for testing.

Also, based on the SSU report, the BIOS version installed on your system is 1.23.0, however, you should try updating your BIOS version to the latest 1.24 version. Remember that it is important to keep your system up to date. If you need information about how to update the BIOS, you should consult Dell Support.

Hello Jean,

I have tried clean instalation of the latest Intel graphics driver 31.0.101.2111, and uploaded  the BIOS version to the latest 1.24 version
However, the resolution did not improve.
I have also tried 31.0.101.2114, but nothing have changed.
