HDCP Issue with watching Netflix or Amazon prime 1080p

I'm getting an error - from the Onkyo Receiver

"This Content cannot be displayed on TV (MAIN)

Please make sure HDMI connection on your HDCP 2.2 Compatible TV"

Computer - Gigabyte Z390 I AORUS PRO WIFI with i5-9400 (UHD 630 graphics) - HDCP 2.2 - possibly a MCDP2800 chip involved in HDMI output.

Receiver - Onkyo TX-NR686 - HDCP 2.2

TV - Samsung UA55H7000 - HDCP 1.4 - can't confirm this.

Computer -> TV works fine

PS4 -> Receiver -> TV works fine.

I suspect the computer is trying to establish HDCP 2.2 connection to the TV via the receiver. Even though the TV isn't 2.2 capable.

Is there any way to configure the computer to connect using HDCP 1.4 rather than 2.2. Are there any tools that show versions of HDCP that are being used in the connection?

Is the Onkyo receiver misreporting it's capabilities?

Hello DStre6,

Thank you for posting on this Intel Community.

When playing protected content, all components have to be configured properly in order to play this content. What we can confirm is that the processor supports HDCP 2.2. for 4K Premium content protection over wired displays (HDMI*, DVI, and DisplayPort*). Since HDCP is integrated into the processor, there is no need to physically configure it.

Now, according to your findings, you can play protected content when connecting the TV to the computer only. In this scenario, our recommendation is that you can contact the AV receiver manufacturer to obtain step-by-step instructions on how to connect other devices to the AV receiver to play protected content as desired.

Hopefully, other community members can shed light on this setup/configuration.

Just in case anybody else hits same problem.

I worked around this by getting a displayport -> hdmi adapter that only supports 1080p - so probably only hdcp1.4

And using displayport on computer -> adapter -> receiver -> tv.

I'm still not sure what step in the chain

Windows 10

UHD-630

MCDP2800

Onkyo Receiver

is causing trouble - suspicions are falling on UHD-630 & MCDP2800 as there are some reports of NUCs experiencing same issue - resulting in a firmware update for MCDP2800.
