I have a HP a6542p that has a G33/G31 express chipset family I using win 7 pro. I have downloaded the driver that says it is specifically made to display this resolution for the lcd monitors that need it. But it still is not listed as a choice in all available resolutions. The monitor constantly says pls change to 1440x900 resolution..... Thanks in advance.

Hello supernukes,

I understand you are trying to get 1440x900 screen resolution on your computer.

Let me apologize for any inconvenience this issue may be causing to you.

In order to help you better I would like to gather more information about the configuration you have in the computer. Please attach to this thread the .txt file the Intel® System Support Utility will generate https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility

May I have the model number of the monitor you are using?

What type of video cable are you using between the computer and the monitor?

To attach a file, you must click "Use Advanced Editor" on the upper right hand corner of the response box, then the "attach" option will appear on the bottom right hand corner of the response box.

Regards,

The moniter is a HP w1907 I am using a VGA cable.....I have to since the cpu only supports that type of cable. Attached is the system info you requested.. My monitor's native resolution is 1440x900 and it tells me that over and over and over again many times a day...It is very annoying...plus text is blurry. This problem (not being able to get 1440x900) has been going on for years. There is thread after thread for years now with no good solution. Intel even addressed this problem with a so-called graphics driver fix....IT DID NOT WORK.....So intel has known about this problem for years and still has not addressed it properly...OK enough of me ranting...sorry for that......

Hello supernukes,

Thank you for the information you sent to me.

I would like you to try completely uninstalling the graphics driver and then reinstalling it. Please download the driver that is on this link https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/18232/Intel-Graphics-Media-Accelerator-Driver-for-Windows-7-64-zip-?product=81519 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/18232/Intel-Graphics-Media-Accelerator-Driver-for-Windows-7-64-zip-?product=81519

As soon as the graphics driver has been downloaded on the keyboard press WinLogo key + r, then type in devmgmt.msc, double click on Display Adapters -> Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset -> Driver tab -> Uninstall -> Select the check box Delete the driver software for this device -> OK, restart the computer, and then reinstall the driver I provided using the steps that are on this link https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005474.html https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005474.html

Please also install the monitor driver that is on this link https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-w1907-19-inch-widescreen-lcd-monitor/3709665/swItemId/vc-61990-1 https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-w1907-19-inch-widescreen-lcd-monitor/3709665/swItemId/vc-61990-1

Let me know if issue persists or not.

Regards,
