High Encoding Latency & Dropped Frames After all versions of Intel Arc Driver 32.0.101.6083

Since updating past driver version 32.0.101.6083, I have tested every new Intel Arc driver release, but the encoding latency remains significantly higher than before. The GPU struggles to keep up, and when switching scenes in OBS Studio, I experience frequent dropped frames.

I have tried every available driver version beyond 32.0.101.6083, but none have improved the issue. The only way to achieve stable encoding performance is by reverting to version 6083.

Troubleshooting Steps I Have Already Tried:
Clean driver installation (using DDU)
Full Windows reinstallation
Different OBS settings and encoder presets
Testing various driver versions (including the latest)

-------------------------

Current Setup:
Streaming PC:

GPU: Intel Arc A380

CPU: Intel i5-13500

OBS Studio (latest version)

Encoding Method: Quicksync (tried with Igpu on and off)

Operating System: Windows 11 (latest updates installed)

The encoding latency should not increase drastically after driver updates. The GPU should be able to handle scene transitions in OBS without dropping frames.

The issue only occurs with newer drivers, meaning that something changed after version 6083, making Intel Arc encoding less reliable for streaming.

Is this a known issue? Are there any planned fixes or workarounds? I’d appreciate any insights or solutions Intel can provide.

Thanks in advance for your support!

Hello ozzilla,

Thank you for posting in the community. I have a few additional questions regarding the issue you're experiencing with OBS. Could you please share a screenshot of the OBS settings you're using that might be causing the problem? Additionally, have you tested similar applications to OBS, and do they exhibit the same issue? If possible, could you provide a video demonstrating how to replicate the issue so I can investigate further?

Regarding your comment about encoding latency not increasing drastically after driver updates, could you clarify what the normal encoding latency was before? Also, to confirm, did you only encounter this issue after updating the driver from version 6083 to the latest one?

Hi,

Ever since driver version 6083, I've been experiencing the same issue with every newer release. I've been testing different settings for the past four months but haven’t been able to get it to work. I've tried updating directly to the latest driver, as well as going through each version step by step — the issue persists.
With version 6083, the normal latency in OBS is between 0.8 and 1.4 ms, depending on the captured scene.
Yes, every version after 6083 simply doesn't work properly for me. Personally, it's not a huge deal — as long as the encoder performance hasn't significantly improved in newer versions, I'm fine sticking with the old one.
However, I'm sure there are many others facing the same issue and struggling to find a solution.

I also tried completely fresh OBS installations, both regular and portable versions — with and without plugins.
With plugins, it's practically unusable due to severe issues. Without any plugins, I get around 9–16 ms render latency and still experience dropped frames during encoding.

Do you want me to share anything besides my OBS settings to help narrow it down?

Hello ozzilla,

Thank you for answering my previous questions. If possible, could you provide a video recording demonstrating how to replicate the issue related to encoding latency? This will allow me to accurately follow your method and determine if the issue occurs on my end as well.

Hello ozzilla,

I'm following up on my previous request for a video demonstrating how to replicate this issue. This will enable me to investigate more accurately. Please share the video in this thread at your earliest convenience.
