I have a Intel HD Graphics 520 Display adapter. I want to set up 3 screens, laptop + 2 externals. One screen is no problem, but the second does not work.

Provide your processor model number.

Provide your Windows 10 VERSION (1909 fpr example)

Back to the actual problem, it appears that the VGA and DP connectors are exclusive (i.e. you can use only one of them). To get a third display, you may be able to use a DisplayPort MST Hub to connect two displays. Here are some examples:

Note that, if these work, you are sharing the bandwidth of the single DisplayPort channel across the two monitors. I would stick to 1080p or similar monitors. You should be able to go up to 4K @30Hz but, well, ...
