Hello bmerk1,

Thank you for posting on the Intel ® communities.

Please follow the steps below in order to address the error message you are getting:

Use only drivers provided directly by your Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) as they are customized and validated for your system configuration.

Follow these steps to properly switch to the best OEM drivers for your computer:

1. Disconnect from the Internet.

2. Uninstall the generic DCH drivers via Start > Settings > Apps & Features.

3. Uninstall the (DCH) Intel® Graphics Control Panel via Start > Settings > Apps & Features.

4. Restart the computer.

5. Reconnect to the Internet.

6. Go to Device Manager > Right-click on "Intel® HD Graphics" or "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter".

7. Select "Update Driver".

8. Allow Windows Update to Search for the best drivers for your system.

9. Install the driver.

10. Restart the computer.

Force the generic DCH drivers. This option is not recommended as it overrides any customization done by your OEM.

If you still wish to use generic DCH drivers then follow these steps:

1. Download the latest DCH driver from downloadcenter.intel.com and save it on your Desktop.

2. Disconnect from the Internet.

3. Uninstall any existing DCH Graphics driver via Start > Settings > Apps & Features.

4. Uninstall the (DCH) Intel® Graphics Control Panel via Start > Settings > Apps & Features.

5. Restart the computer.

6. In Device Manager > Right-click on "Intel® HD Graphics".

If "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" is already listed skip to step#10.

7. Select "Uninstall device".

8. Enable the option "Delete the driver software for this device" and click "Uninstall".

9. Restart the computer.

This should delete any non-DCH driver stored on Windows driver repository. Repeat steps #6 through #9 until "Intel® HD Graphics" changes to "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter")

10. Install the DCH driver downloaded in step #1.

11. Restart the computer.

12. Reconnect to the Internet.

13. The (DCH) Intel® Graphics Control Panel should be downloaded automatically after a few minutes upon restart. If it doesn't, go to Microsoft Store and download it.

14. Restart the computer.

Remove 9NCGJX5QLP9M.dat file from installation directory.

The Intel Graphics Driver installation process is installing file 9NCGJX5QLP9M.dat in directory "C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\InstallAgent\Checkpoints"

Hi

Just now remembered that MDL requires Sign In to view content.

So, here's some background.

png_346.png

Device Manager reports I have the best driver for my device.

png_344.png

and this animal does not seem to agree

png_345.png

Just for the experience....I ran Intel Driver and Support Assistant Installer.

png_341.pngpng_342.pngpng_343.png

and BTW google "AppUp.IntelMediaSDKDFP Failed" reports lots of users with same issue.

So, I think Intel and DELL need to have a meeting.

Hello bmerk1,

Thank you for your response.

In this case it is recommended to contact the manufacturer directly since the DCH drivers must be provided by them in order to change from non-DCH to DCH drivers, contact them directly so you can use their driver.

Also, as mentioned previously in step 3:

Remove 9NCGJX5QLP9M.dat file from installation directory.

The Intel Graphics Driver installation process is installing file 9NCGJX5QLP9M.dat in directory "C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\InstallAgent\Checkpoints"

Let me know if this helps.

Hi

Okay. Please tell me what does "DCH" stand for. And why do you advise > "Remove 9NCGJX5QLP9M.dat file from installation directory"?

Clicking on 9NCGJX5QLP9M.dat calls >

Hello bmerk1,

Thank you for your response.

To answer your questions:

1 - DCH stands for Declarative Componentized Hardware Support Apps. DCH drivers are driver packages that will install and run on Universal Windows Platform (UWP) based editions of Windows 10.

2 - The file that I have asked to be deleted is the file that is causing the issues and giving you that error, removing will not affect the system in any way, it should only help you to stop with the errors.

Thank you for your response.

I would just like to confirm if the issue has happened after the update of Windows build was done.

Let me know so I can review the information further.

Hello bmerk1,

Thank you for your response.

I can look into this; however, does that mean that the error is still showing? Please let me know so we can continue.

Hi again,

Oh, I have not been checking for errors.... since, you wrote:

<<2 - The file that I have asked to be deleted is the file that is causing the issues and giving you that error, removing will not affect the system in any way, it should only help you to stop with the errors.>>

Okay, I'll check and report back.

Sorry, I assumed "errors" would stop since 9NCGJX5QLP9M.dat was removed or not present.

I'll check a few times over the weekend and report back asap.

Thanks again

Hello bmerk1,

Thank you for your response.

I understand; however, since the path is no longer there with the latest update then you need to check to make sure if the issue is no longer happening.

Let me know please.

Um, how do I check to make sure the issue is no longer happening?

I wrote yesterday that I'm not seeing Failed since 1903.... (in WuMgr > https://www.thewindowsclub.com/wumgr-free-and-open-source-update-manager-for-windows-10).

Hello bmerk1,

Thank you for your response.

Check the same way to see if the error message shows after the update, the same way as it was showing before.

You can also check the eventviewer in WIndows to see if the issue is reported there.

I have checked and re-checked and re-re-checked WuMgr results. I originally found Failed in WuMgr results. I am not seeing any Failed since 1903. Event Viewer covers a lot of real estate. Thanks
