Intel DSA v25.1.9.6 GUI Not Finding Update for UHD Graphics 620 Driver

I have a Win 10 v22H2 OS and am currently using the Intel UHD Graphics 620 v27.20.100.9664 driver recommended on the Dell support page <here> for my Inspiron 15 5584 laptop that is certified for my Dell BIOS.

The Drivers & Software tab on the Intel support page for my Intel UHD Graphics 620 at https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/products/126789/graphics/processor-graphics/intel-uhd-graphics-family/intel-uhd-graphics-620.html currently recommends a newer driver v31.0.101.2134 (rel. 19-Dec-2024).

The latest Intel Driver & Support Assistant (DSA) v25.1.9.6 GUI (web page) reports "No supported driver or software updates are available for your system" even though even the system tray icon reports there is one available update.

Intel DSA v25_1_9_.6 No Supported Updates Found 27 Feb 2025.png

Intel DSA v25_1_9_.6 System Tray Icon One Update Found 27 Feb 2025.png

Past version of Intel DSA have always detected the latest v31.0.x.x driver version for my Intel UHD Graphics 620 GPU. For example, here is an image I captured on 06-Dec-2024 using the previous Intel DSA v24.6.49.8, which found driver v31.0.101.2130 (rel. 03-Sep-2024).

Intel DSA v24_6_49_8 Intel UHD Graphics 620 v31_0_101_2130 06 Dec 2024.png

I performed a clean reinstall of Intel DSA by running the Intel Driver & Support Assistant Uninstaller v25.1.9.6 and then reinstalling with a fresh copy of Intel-Driver-and-Support-Assistant-Installer.exe v25.1.9.6 downloaded from https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html but that didn't fix the problem.

Turning OFF Enhanced Tracking Protection for https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/intel-driver-support-assistant.html in my default Firefox browser and disabling all browser extensions did not fix the problem.

The attached DSA.zip file includes all folders in C:\ProgramData\Intel\DSA (which would not save correctly until I stopped my Intel DSA services at Start | Windows Administrative Tools | Services).

Hi ljmacri,

Intel® DSA offers Intel® Generic drivers, that may not be compatible with other drivers on an OEM device. System manufacturers customize Intel® drivers so Intel® adapters will work on their system. With this, It is recommended to install the customized drivers from the manufacturers' site.

I would like to further investigate the issue you experiencing kindly provide additional information below.

  1. Which operating system are you using? (Supported OS: Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, or 11)
  2. Which browser are you using?
  3. Do you have any proxy settings configured?
  4. What security software are you using?
  5. Do you have any browser plug-ins installed?

There may be instances when your Intel drivers are up to date, but Intel® DSA continues to send a new version notification. The ability to change the notifications from Intel® DSA exists for each update offered, so by changing the settings, you can control what you want to see updates for.

Hi RandyT_Intel :

Thanks for your reply.  To answer your questions:

  1. Win OS is 64-bit Win 10 Pro v22H2 build 19045.5487.
  2. Default browser is Firefox v135.0.1 (Microsoft Edge v133.0.3065.92 also installed but rarely used).
  3. No proxy settings configured.
  4. Primary antivirus is Microsoft Defender (currently client v4.18.24090.11 / engine v1.1.25010.7) with Malwarebytes Premium v5.2.7.167-1.0.5160 running in real-time as secondary protection.
  5. All Firefox add-ons, including uBlock Origin v1.62.0 and and Malwarebytes Browser Guard v2.6.27, are listed below.

Firefox v135_0_1 Add-Ons Troubleshooting Information 28 Feb 2025.png

NOTE:  I tried the following :

  • Turned OFF Malwarebytes Premium from loading at Windows startup in Malwarebytes settings and re-booted
  • Disabled all Firefox browser extensions and restarted Firefox
  • Launched Intel DSA v25.1.9.6 to open https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/intel-driver-support-assistant.html and turned OFF Enhanced Tracking Protection for that web page from my Firefox address bar, and then
  • Performed a fresh scan with Intel DSA

... and Intel DSA still reported "No supported driver or software updates are available for your system" and failed to recommend the latest Intel UHD Graphics 620 v31.0.101.2134 driver (rel. 19-Dec-2024).

Hi ljmacri,

While Intel® Driver & Support Assistant (Intel® DSA) can detect and offer upgrades for many of the drivers and software that are available on Download Center, you may have an Intel product that isn’t or no longer supported by this tool.

The application detects integrated and discrete Intel® Graphics Controllers for desktop and laptop computers. You can also manually identify your Intel® Graphics Controller.

For all other graphics controllers, contact your computer manufacturer or place of purchase for driver support. In this case I highly advised to manually installed and get the updates from the system manufacturer website to have this driver version  v31.0.101.2134 driver (rel. 19-Dec-2024) or contact Dell support team.

Common Reasons why Intel® DSA isn't Finding your Hardware

If your hardware isn’t being detected or displayed, it may be for one of the following reasons:

  1. You have an older component.
  2. Your component is discontinued or isn't supported. Please check your unit status here: Intel® Core™ i5-8265U Processor
  3. You have a component not produced by Intel.
  4. The component isn't in our database.

Let me know if you still need more information and clarification. I'm here to help.

Hi RandyT_Intel:

Yes, I did review your comments, but they don't really explain why Intel DSA suddenly stopped detecting newer drivers that are posted on the Intel support page for my Intel UHD Graphics 620.

I know that this Intel UHD Graphics 620 for my 8th gen CPU has moved to legacy support (i.e., critical fixes and security vulnerabilities only) as described in the 27-Jul-2022 Intel support article Graphics Driver Support Update for 10th Generation and Older Intel Processor Graphics, but Intel still releases a new graphics driver for my Intel UHD Graphics 620 every four months so. As I said in my original post, the Drivers & Software tab on the Intel support page for my Intel UHD Graphics 620 at https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/products/126789/graphics/processor-graphics/intel-uhd-graphics-family/intel-uhd-graphics-620.html currently recommends driver v31.0.101.2134  (rel. 19-Dec-2024), so it doesn't seem logical that Intel DSA would suddenly stop detecting the latest available driver for my GPU, even if I plan to keep the old custom v27.20.100.9664 driver recommended by Dell.

I'm beginning to wonder if my problem is somehow related to the recent glitch by Microsoft where they incorrectly removed all Intel 8th, 9th and 10th gen Intel CPUs from the list of minimum system requirements for Win 11 v24H2 and then added those CPUs back again last week, per the 01-Mar-2025 Neowin article Microsoft maintains Intel 8th 9th 10th Gen CPUs aren't unsupported, confirming requirements.

Hi ljmacri,

Let me review the article you provided and coordinate internally. The issue seems to be that IDSA is unable to automatically recommend updates because it is not detecting the hardware components of the system due to the following reasons I provided above. The best we can do for now is to manually check and download the latest updates, if any. In addition, I highly advised that you used driver from the OEM manufacturer because Intel provides generic versions of software and drivers from the IDSA or download center. Your computer manufacturer may have altered the features, incorporated customizations, or made other changes. If you have an OEM device, contact Computer Manufacturer Support Websites for best driver compatibility with your system.

Regarding this finding on Microsoft’s side, allow me to investigate further. I will provide an update once I gather more information. Thank you for your patience.

Hi RandyT_Intel:

Thanks for following up.

Just FYI, the Intel DSA v25.1.9.6 detailed system report I saved today after my latest scan (attached as a PDF) shows that Intel DSA has no problem identifying my Intel i5-8265U CPU or that my Intel UHD Graphics 620 currently has an older 27.20.100.9664 driver.

Hi ljmacri,

You have the option to manually obtain and update the drivers if you wish. However, if you're not experiencing any issues with the current older version, I suggest that updating may not be necessary though it remains entirely up to you. I highly recommend using OEM drivers rather than the generic Intel drivers available on our download center to avoid compatibility issues.

I'm currently discussing with our team why the Intel Driver & Support Assistant (IDSA) is not automatically suggesting updates for your system, despite the latest versions being available on the download center. Please give me some time to investigate this further. I will post an update here once I have more information. Thank you for your patience.

Hi RandyT_Intel:

Good news. A new driver v31.0.101.2135 was released for my Intel UHD Graphics 620 yesterday on 28-Mar-2025 and this latest version is now detected by Intel Driver & Support Assistant v25.1.9.6.

Intel DSA v25_1_9_6 Intel UHD Graphics 620 v31_0_101_2135 29 Mar 2025.png

I also noticed that if I go to the Intel 7th-10th Gen Processor Graphics for Windows download page for this driver (ID 776137) at https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/776137/intel-7th-10th-gen-processor-graphics-windows.html that this latest v31.0.101.2135 driver (rel. 28-Mar-2025) lists my Win 10 v22H2 as a compatible OS ...

Intel UHD Graphics 620 Download Page Driver v31_0_101_2135 Win 10 v22H2 Listed 29 Mar 20252.png

... but if I choose the previous v31.0.101.2134 driver (rel. 19-Dec-2024) my OS is missing from the list of compatible operating systems. Perhaps that is why Intel DSA was not recommending the previous v31.0.101.2134 driver for my system.
