Intel HD 2500 doesn't work with cable DisplayPort to VGA

Hello,

I bought a HP Elite 8300 SFF with Intel HD Graphics 2500. I want to use 2 monitors. This machine has VGA and DisplayPort outputs and I have 2 monitors with VGA inputs. First monitor VGA to VGA works OK. But the second monitor (DisplayPort to VGA) doesn't work. I use this cable https://gembird.com/item.aspx?id=9844 as a reduction. Could be the problem with the cable that it isn't an active adapter? Could solve this problem an active adapter, for examle http://www8.hp.com/us/en/products/oas/product-detail.html?oid=3955073?

btw. I tried the same gembird DP to VGA cable with the same monitor with my notebook, which has Intel HD Graphics 3000 and it is working, so I'm little confused 😕

Thank you for any help!

Have you tested the DP port WITHOUT a monitor connected to the VGA port?

Of course, I tried to have to only one monitor (DP to VGA) connected, but it didn't help.

Ok, you have to solve this problem before worrying about whether two monitors work together. Only possibilities are bad cable, need active adapter or DP port is dead. Ignoring the first (which it would appear you have eliminated), I would hope the need for active adapter is the reason, but you never know with older hardware, especially refurbished.
