Intel HD 630 BSOD with APC_INDEX_MISMATCH igdkmd64.sys 23.20.16.4877

Hi. I started experiencing BSOD with APC_INDEX_MISMATCH of the offending driver igdkmd64.sys. I had posted on Microsoft's fourms but as it appears to be Intel driver related this seems like the appropriate place to post. I am getting reports of other users now experiencing the same issue on other systems.

Environment: Either Windows 10 1703 or 1709.

It appears to happen once the screens go to sleep and you move the mouse or keyboard to wake the screen back up.

Please place an X to the right of the option showing how often you see this issue using specific steps. (Ex: 'Every few times a game is started it flickers.' <- This would be "Often")<p>

I tried the system outside the chassis and same problem occurs. BSOD with turn monitors off after xx minutes enabled. With disabled, no BSOD.

Hi,

I'm not the original poster but i have an almost identical issue, so i thought i'd add my info here.

I have an Intel HD 630 (intel i5-7300HQ) on a MSI laptop (GL62M 7RDX), and it works perfectly with the version 22.20.16.4708 of the driver.

Today i tried to update the driver (to fix an issue with my TV), to the version available on the "Driver and Support Assistant" : x.x.x.4901

On the built in monitor alone everything seemed to work fine, but as soon as i plug a second display with the HDMI cable (connected to either a Samsung TV or a Benq monitor), i get the BSOD (APC_INDEX_MISMATCH igdkmd64.sys). If i leave the HDMI cable pluged it doesn't boot, if i unplug it, it works fine.

So i used a system restore to get back to the earlier version, it worked. I then tried the version available on the MSI website : 22.20.16.4836 (https://www.msi.com/Laptop/support/GL62M-7RDX.html# down-driver Support For GL62M 7RDX | Laptops - The best gaming laptop provider | MSI Global ). Same problem, everything works but BSOD the exact second i plug another display with an HDMI cable.https://www.msi.com/Laptop/support/GL62M-7RDX.html# down-driver

 

So far it's 100% reproducible, i couldn't try with a DisplayPort i don't have any cable nor display that support it.

Hope this helps, if you have more questions i'll be glad to answer but i don't really need further assistance, as i said if i keep the previous versions of the driver i have no issue.

NVGoldendog: I just received an update on this matter, this is a new driver that has not been officially released yet by Intel, but it is included as part of Windows 10 Inside Ring, taken from a super-user suggestion here:

Alberto, I am really happy to report that the drivers you have me use seem to have resolved the problem. I am now able to have the screens go to sleep without a BSOD. Hopefully they become released as production drivers by Intel/Microsoft and this problem get's resolved for others as well.

Hey, I just want to let you know that I experienced the same problem on Intel HD 620 (Thinkpad E560) running on Windows. It's funny because it occurs only when using HDMI cable, on VGA it was working flawlessly. I've installed a driver from this topic and now it's working great. Thank you!

Please include this path in regular driver (I am on fresh windows 10 with the newest official drivers).

Maybe it's worth mentioning that I am using an external monitor as my main display.

Hi,

Just want to let you know that I have the same exact problem. It started 2-3 weeks ago and I also installed the Intel driver from Asus website (23.20.16.4849) and after 2 days it did the BSOD again. Hope we can find a solution.

I have this same problem! Really frustrating - so much so I got an old graphics card and put it in my new machine. I then disabled the driver and NO MORE BSOD! Note: just using the new card (via BIOS) was not enough - the machine still crashed - I had to disable the Intel Graphics 630. Not a great solution I know but I was tired of having BSOD all the time. I'm going to continue following this as I would like to use the built in card with the display ports but until I see a solution I guess I'm back to the old card.

One other thing - I was able to reproduce it at will by doing the following:

1. Reboot

2. Open Chrome

3. Go to Amazon Videos

4. Open a series show (like GOT)

5. hover the mouse over a play button on one of the episodes of the series - at this point the machine would either BSOD or just shut down.
