Intel Iris XE not supporting 5120x1440 resolution

I have looked at many older posts to get information, but with this being such a new laptop, I have not been able to find a solution that works.

Here is what I am running:

Laptop: E15 Gen 2 (Type 20TD, 20TE) Laptop (ThinkPad) - Type 20TD

Operating System: Windows 11 Pro (version 21H2 (OS Build 22000.652))

Graphics Card: Intel Iris Xe Graphics

Driver Version: 30.0.100.9955

Monitor: LC49G97TSSNXDC - Samsung Odyssey G9 49" Ultrawide Monitor (up to 240hz)

I have the latest drivers and BIOS available, so everything is updated. Right now, the max resolution is 3840x1080 and it looks like hell.

I'll be honest, this is the first time I have used and Intel graphics card (as in not getting something with an nVidia card) and I am less than impressed at this point. WHY is it so hard for a company to just add support to a resolution that it pretty standard.

Sorry, needed to vent, but this is just pain frustrating.

Thanks all!

Samsung CRG9

  • 5120 x 1440 @ 120 Hz 10-bit HDR
  • 32:9
  • VESA Adaptive Sync
  • 1 x HDMI 2.0
  • 2 x DisplayPort 1.4

Intel NUC 13

DisplayPort 1.4a HBR3 (with DSC) tunneling on USB-C/Thunderbolt ports on the back:

If you connect your monitor with one of these cables, you shouldn't have any problems:
