Intel hd 620 Stutters On Valorant When loading new textures such as abilities and shooting weapons

Whenever I hop into my first match of valorant my hd 620 stutters when I shoot my weapon for the first time, use a ability for the first time, and look at a spot in the map it stutters and I freeze for a good 1-10 seconds, it gets really annoying and I found that other people have had this issue, could it be the new drivers that I have aren't good with valorant? I have a i5-7200u, 8 gigs of ram (pretty sure they are single channel, and a 119gb ssd, my laptop is a microsoft surface laptop 2.

Hydra1, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.

In order for us to provide the most accurate assistance on this matter, we just wanted to confirm a few details about your system:

Is this a new laptop?

How long ago did you purchase it?

Was this same laptop working fine before with Valorant?

The problem only happens with Valorant or with other games as well?

What is the name of those games?

When did the issue start?

Did you make any recent hardware/software changes?

Which Windows* version are you using?

Does the problem happen at home or in the work environment?

Please attach the SSU report so we can verify further details about the components in your platform, please check all the options in the report including the one that says "3rd party software logs":

Any questions, please let me know.

Laptop is about one year old, got it around july/june 2020, I started playing valorant a few months back it always worked like this and I checked all of my drivers were up to date, so im thinking maybe a got a non compatible driver because I have seen another topic like this but instead of 620 he had a 630. Started the same time I got valorant, which was a few months ago, it doesnt happen to other games but then again I mostly play games that dont require many resources. I use 20h0 or whatever it is, its the latest stable build as of 7/16/2020. I always use this laptop at home and I have never taken it out.

Hydra1, Thank you very much for proving that information and the SSU report.

Did you check the system requirements of Valorant to make sure your system complies with them?

In the link below you will see the recommended settings suggested by Intel® to play Valorant:

https://gameplay.intel.com/en-us/CPUAndGameSelected/Index/95443/724916

Based on the information showing in the SSU, the current graphics driver version installed in your system is 27.20.100.8682.

Just to let you know, we always recommend to install the graphics driver provided by the manufacturer of the computer, since that driver was customized by them to work with your specific platform.

I looked in Microsoft's website and they actually have a driver package that includes the graphics driver tested and validated by them, please install those drivers:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=57515

If the problem persists after that, then we can try a clean installation of Intel® generic graphics driver version 30.0.100.9684, following the instructions in the link below:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/30579/Intel-Graphics-Windows-DCH-Drivers

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000057389/graphics.html

Also, Microsoft's driver package includes a firmware update for your device, please install that update as well and test the game.

Hi Hydra1, Thank you very much for sharing those updates.

"tried downloading them but it wouldn't let me.", do you get an error message?

Which ones are the drives that you cannot download, the ones from Microsoft or the ones from Intel®?

When installing the Intel® drivers, please try using both methods, the .exe file or the .zip file.

Hi, the error message that I got was "This hardware platform must be one of the following: Surface Laptop 2. Aborting this operation." while updating from the Microsoft site that you sent to me. I am 100% certain that I am using a Surface Laptop 2 so maybe the installer isn't recognizing it?

Hi Hydra1, Thank you very much for clarifying those details.

"so maybe the installer isn't recognizing it?", yes, that is probably one reason why the drivers are not getting installed. Keep in mind that they build the computer and that those drivers in there were release, tested, validated, and customized by Mircosoft, those should be the proper driver for your system.

So, in that case, what we advise you to do next, will be to get in contact directly with Microsoft, to report this scenario, to verify if they can replicate the issue, to check if maybe they have a different newer driver package for you to install and to confirm if a physical inspection of the computer is needed in order to rule out a possible hardware problem with the device:
