Is there Still No 64-bit Windows 7 Driver for the Cedar Trail N2800 Processor's GMA3650?

The Cedar Trail N2800 processor was under development since late 2010. Netbook manufacturers planned to incorporate it in netbooks they demonstrated at Computer Electronics Show in February 2011. Problems in validation testing with the Cedar Trail and Windows 7 delayed the release of computers containing it until early 2012. When _Trail5CEch computers with the Cedar Trail did come out they were restricted to 32-bit operating systems, as Intel decided to focus on drivers for Windows 8, even though new versions of Windows operating systems are notorious for bumpy introductions and there are millions of Windows 7 x64 users globally.

Linux uswers have posted 131 messages on their thread related to the lack of a 64-bit Linux driver, .

Is there still no 64-bit Windows 7 driver for the Cedar Trail N2800 processor's GMA 3650 (Imagination Technologies' PowerVR SGX545)?

If not, will the 64-bit Windows 8 driver, when released, also work with Windows 7?

Instead of being a cutting edge achievement in the low level computer market, the sloppy partial introduction of the Cedar Trail processor tarnished the names of Intel, Imagination Technologies and the computer manufacturers who depended on its delivery. It has caused the netbook market to sink and computer manufacturers to move to new designs and other processors. A gross blunder by Intel.

Rumour has it that it'll never be available as there is no 64bit functionality available in the PowerVR SGX 5 series GPU hardware, and therefore no binary source from ImgTech for Intel to write their own drivers from.

If that's the case, a bit of honesty to the market would have saved Intel, Imagination Technologies and the computer manufacturers producing netbooks with the Cedar Trail N2800 processor from appearing to be slicky salesmen without adequate ethics to be depended upon.

Even though it is not addressing 64-bit functionality, the reality is the drivers for PowerVR SGX based GPUs are currently unacceptable, and need to be fixed across the board.

There is no necessity for the SGX 5xx GPU to have specific hardware level 64-bit computing support in order for drivers to function. The drivers merely need to be updated to 64-bit functions and calls on the CPU and API side. This is how most device drivers are updated to 64-bit. In the early days of XP 64-bit it was common to modify the driver INF file decorations to declare 64-bit support and do a force install of the unsigned driver. This caused few if any problems. As close as GPU drivers run to the kernel, the drivers would possibly need a few other patches to handle passing 64-bit pointers from RAM. Again, this is a CPU side operation, and translation of memory addresses is trivial.

I have written a couple of long /message/167814# 167814 threads here explaining the deficiencies of the GMA series drivers under Windows 7 and 8.

I just wanted to weigh in and say that we are also awaiting the drivers that work correctly on Windows 7 64-Bit.

Intel - You should never released hardware that does not have the drivers for major OSes ready to go. I feel like I was sold a car that has no engine. Sure it looks great and it is new and exciting.... but useful... no.

Perhaps Intel you would like to buy back the hardware that is so far useless.

I still am having trouble comprehending why there are so many post from both Windows 7 64Bit and Linux users that Intel seems to be all but ignoring. If Intel does not want to listen to their customers.... soon Intel will lose their customers. INTEL WHERE ARE YOU GUYS ON THIS???? Who's programming and testing time do we need to pay for to make this happen???
