Max Resolution 1920x1080 with UHD 730 and I5 12400

Dell I3910 (Windows 11) with UHD 730 and i5 12400 won't allow resolution setting to be selected higher than 1920x1080. I've updated the 730 drivers, Monitor drivers, installed Graphics Command Center and Driver & Support Assistant. Monitor is an new LG QHD 32QN55T that works fine at higher resolutions connected to different PCs with the same HDMI cable.

Please advise!

Hello jrparrish,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I am sorry to know that you are having issues with your Intel® UHD Graphics 730.

I would like to let you know that the manufacturers (HP, ASUS, DELL, etc) can add, modify, and block features of the products that they use to build their computers, so I recommend you check with DELL to confirm if they are any limitation on their system related to graphics.

However, in order to better assist you, please provide the following:

1. Is this issue recent? If so, when did it start?

2. Did you try a different monitor/TV with the same computer?

3. Have you tried with DELL drivers?

I have the same issue!  I'm trying to use my Dell Vostro 3910 with i5-12400 and UHD 730 graphics.  The monitor I'm using is an LG DualUp monitor that is 2560x2880 resolution.  I can't go beyond 1920x1080.  Custom resolution and scaling doesn't help.

Does the UHD 730 support 2560x2880?  I have many other Dell PCs with integrated Intel graphics that work fine but the 730 doesn't seem to.

I'm having the same issue. I have a Dell 3910 with UHD Graphics 730. The weird thing is, before Windows automatically updated my driver I had 3840x2160 working fine. I tried installing older drivers but couldn't find any that work. Apparently the problem is Dell used HDMI 1.4 ports and won't allow higher resolutions due to motherboard design limits. I found this from another thread.

I think if I found another driver, it could work, but I don't know how safe it is.

Edit: I was able to find an older version of the driver that works. Version 30.0.101.1660 seems to work.

Anything newer goes back to 1080p max.

Did this driver change work on your system and is it stable? Version 30.0.101.1660

Yes, I can confirm. I am using driver Version 30.0.101.1660 and have 3840x2160 working with no problems. The only thing I found is HDR doesn't work. But I'd rather have 4k without HDR than 1080p with HDR.

I have one more question for you, are you running Win11, that is my current OS and will that driver work with Win11?

I can confirm it works for Windows 11. That is what I'm using.

Thank you so much for your advice, I can confirm that changing the driver has corrected the issue.

Thank you for the response, I will give it try. Kind of sucks having a new high end LG monitor and not be able to use it at it's max resolution.

Thank you much @xo_mer!

Version 30.0.101.1660 worked for me too. Enabled me to get 3840x2160 even on my newer Intel® Core™ i5 version that is not listed on its compatibility table. It makes no sense to me that the HDMI 1.4 port could actually be the blocking issue, if an older driver version solves it. Open questions to anyone...

Is anyone concerned about this hack as a long term solution?  What if we are forced to upgrade this driver in the future for some reason?

Has anyone asked Dell if they will address the issue?  I asked Dell support and they blew me off.  I sensed that this Dell article is just them protecting themselves:  https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-ca/000126548/resolution-on-external-monitor-limited-to-1920-x-1080-using-hdmi
