I recently purchased the msi qd oled mag 341cqp monitor. So I tried to connect my erazer crawler e40 laptop with an intel core I5 12450H and an rtx 4050 to be able to play on this monitor. However, when I go to the settings to change the display frequency, it is impossible to go beyond 49.9hz.
My pc is supposed to be able to do it because on another screen it works
My monitor too because with another pc it also worked and I was able to do 3440px1440p 170hz
But impossible with my pc on my monitor
I updated my pc and my monitor
I tried several cables
Nothing worked could you help me please.

MSI MAG 341CQP QD-OLED monitor
- 3440 x 1440 @ 175 Hz RGB 10-bit HDR
- 1 x DisplayPort 1.4a
- 2 x HDMI 2.1
- 1 x Mini DisplayPort 1.4a
- 1 x HDMI (with HDCP) v1.4
If the laptop manufacturer's information regarding HDMI is correct, 3440 x 1440 @ 50 Hz RGB 10-bit HDR already corresponds to 98% of HDMI 1.4 TMDS (340 MHz) with CVT-RB video timing.
This would be the first Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 Mobile device I've come across that has such poor HDMI connectivity. In this topology, the HDMI output is usually connected internally directly to the Nvidia GPU.
Please try this cable:

Thank you for your answer I will try with a DP cable but after checking I saw that the different laptop reseller sites talk about an HDMI 2.1 and not 1.4 which makes my problem even more strange.
Are there any other solutions to try while waiting for the cable to arrive?

Even though you've updated your PC, sometimes specific drivers can cause issues with refresh rates. Try to update Nvidia drivers. Use the GeForce Experience tool or go to the official NVIDIA website to get the latest drivers. If you're using HDMI to connect your laptop to the monitor, you need to double check if the cable supports high refresh rates. Some HDMI cables (especially older ones) may only support 60Hz at higher resolutions. For 170Hz at 3440x1440p, you likely need at least HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort 1.4. If you haven't tried it yet, use a DisplayPort cable (if your laptop has a DisplayPort or USB-C that supports DP alternate mode). DisplayPort generally offers more bandwidth for higher resolutions and refresh rates. Some monitors with VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) can have compatibility issues with certain laptops, especially if the VRR range isn't set correctly. Disable any VRR (like G-SYNC or FreeSync) settings from the MSI OSD menu (monitor's on-screen display) and try again.
But If none of these steps work, there could be a deeper compatibility issue between your laptop and the MSI monitor, but most likely, the issue is related to either the cable, port, or driver settings.
