Power Consumption i7-13700H and Arc A370M under Ubuntu

Hello,

I have purchased a Dell XPS with an i7-13700H and Arc A370M. After dual booting Ubuntu 23.04. and Windows 11, I have noticed a significantly higher idle wattage on Linux. Windows is around 3-10W and Linux is 15-20W.

Is this wattage expected without any load on the system? Are there any other references except https://www.intel.de/content/www/de/de/download/747008/intel-arc-graphics-driver-ubuntu.html ?

This behaviour was also present on Arch, but the GPU was not detected by the system.

Hello Niha

Thank you for posting on the Intel Communities,

For idle power consumption, there are no ideal ranges and these values can vary, some recommendations we can provide to optimize the power consumption are to update your system BIOS to the latest available version and configure BIOS ASPM settings according to this article. Also, make sure the driver for Linux was installed following the steps in this guide.

In the article you provided, I noticed that it's required to modify settings in Windows. How to get this done on GNU/Linux?
