Gracias.

Hello DLuja

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. We would like to inform you that we only provide support in English and we are using a translation tool to check this inquiry.

In order to have a better understanding of your environment and check this further, could you please confirm the following information?

1- Did 8-bit color depth work before on this system? If yes, was there any Windows, driver or software update?

2- Please provide details and if possible screenshots regarding where (or what tool) you are using to check the current color depth value.

3- Is the behavior shown on the built-in display or on an external display or both? If on an external display, please provide brand, model, and how you are connecting the display (video output, cable type, adapters, etc.).

4- Please provide a Report for Intel® Graphics Drivers following the steps on the below link:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005848/graphics-drivers.html

Note: If using Intel® Graphics Command Center, please launch the application and refer to Support tab at the left side >> System Diagnostic >> click on Generate Report.

5- DxDiag* report following these steps:

5.1- In the keyboard, press WinLogo key + R.

5.2- In the Run box please type dxdiag and hit Enter.

5.3- Click on Save All Information.

5.4- Open the report.

5.5- Use the option "save all information" to save the .TXT file.

5.6- Attach the report .TXT file to this thread.

Note: To attach a file, you must click the “Attach” option on the bottom left-hand corner of the response box.

Hello AndrewG_Intel

Gracias por responder, voy a tratar de contestar sus preguntas lo mejor que pueda en Ingles:

1- If it worked in 8 bits with the microsoft basic display adapter. But when reinstalling the Intel UHD driver it returns to a depth of 6 bits.

2- At first I could see it with the naked eye, the colors are opaque, in the videos it is more noticeable, so I checked the advanced screen options from the Windows 10 configuration and indicated that the video depth was 6 bits. Attached image.

3- It is displayed on the internal screen. I have not checked on external display.

4- Attached report.

5- Attached report

Hello DLuja

Thank you for all the information provided.

After checking the reports, we noticed that the laptop is using one of the generic Intel® Graphics drivers, version 26.20.100.7463.

It is worth mentioning that the driver or software for your Intel® component might have been changed or replaced by the computer manufacturer and what we recommend is using the driver your Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM, in this case, Lenovo™) provides so you don't lose features or customizations.

In this scenario, please perform a clean install of the OEM driver which has been validated for the specific display panel of your laptop. Based on the reports, the Laptop System model is "Lenovo™ 81W8" that searches online points out to a Lenovo™ S145-15IIL Laptop (ideapad), if this is correct, you can download the OEM driver from the below link:

Intel VGA Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - S145-14IIL, S145-15IIL, version 25.20.100.7101

*https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-s-series-netbooks/s145-15iil/downloads/driver-list/component?name=Display%20and%20Video%20Graphics

In case Lenovo™ S145-15IIL Laptop (ideapad) does not refer to your specific laptop model, please check with Lenovo™ Support regarding the proper OEM driver for your system model: *https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/contactus

Once you have downloaded the OEM driver, please follow these steps to perform the clean install:

1-  Download the latest OEM driver from Lenovo™ website and save it on the computer.

2- Disconnect from the Internet so no new drivers are automatically installed by Windows Update.

3- Uninstall any graphics driver from Windows® >> Apps & Features.

4-  Restart the computer.

5-  Confirm in Device Manager > Video Adapters the controller is listed as "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" >> if not, repeat steps 2 through 4.

6- If the adapter continues to be listed as "Intel UHD Graphics" or similar, and no other Intel Graphics driver is listed under " Apps & Features" for removal, then it means Windows has switched to a previously installed Legacy driver. At this point we can remove Legacy drivers from Device Manager:

6.1.1- Right-click on 'Intel UHD Graphics' or similar, and select 'Uninstall Device'

6.1.2- In the pop-up window make sure 'Delete the driver software for this device' is checked.

6.1.3- Click on 'Uninstall'.

6.1.4- Restart. (Repeat steps 6.1.1 through 6.1.4 until the device gets listed as "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter")

7- Install the driver that was downloaded in step 1.

8- Restart the computer.

9- Reconnect to the Internet.

Feel free to share the outcome of the steps.

Hello Andrew G.

It was not fixed, I did a clean reinstallation of the OEM driver for the Lenovo laptop model as I mentioned, but the same problem persists.

When I uninstalled the Intel UHD generic driver, Microsoft's basic display adapter showed 8 bits deep and the difference in colors, much more colorful, more brightness, and contrast was noticed, when I installed the Lenovo OEM driver it was seen again with a depth of 6 bits and washed, opaque colors.

I leave you the reports again so you can draw your conclusions. Thank you.

Hello DLuja

Thank you for your response and the details provided.

We understand that the issue persists after performing a clean install of the OEM driver.

In this case, our best recommendation is to report this issue directly to your OEM Lenovo so they can check further the customized (OEM) driver that is recommended for your panel. Addressing this inquiry to your OEM is the best course of action at this point since we only provide generic drivers for general purposes. You may contact Lenovo™ support using the below link*:
