Please specify the make and model of the laptop, the make and model of the monitor, and which cable (DisplayPort, HDMI, USB-C) you intend to use to connect the devices.

LG UltraWide 29WL500:
2560 x 1080 @ 75 Hz
2 x HDMI
Surface Laptop (1st Gen, 2017):
1 x Mini DisplayPort (version 1.2)
The problem in your case is probably that you'll need a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. This often leads to compatibility issues with ultrawide monitors because two protocols are involved.
Which adapter are you using? Do you have a link to the product?
Please create a System Support Utility Log and attach it here.

The video output of graphics products depends on the monitor and cable used.
The monitor sends its capabilities to the graphics card as EDID. If the cable, as in your case, performs protocol conversion (DisplayPort/HDMI), we need to check which resolution the graphics driver detects. The cable is advertised as only supporting 1080p, which corresponds to 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) in a 16:9 aspect ratio. Therefore, if the graphics driver only receives 1080p via EDID, it won't output any other resolution. This can be verified with a System Support Utility Log. Based on this, the missing resolution might be added using a third-party program. I think that's what the reviewer on Amazon meant.
Reconhecer Full HD mas não reconhecer Wide Screen mas apos configurar manualmente reconheceu perfeito
In any case, the link bandwidth doesn't seem to be an issue.
Please create a System Support Utility Log while the LG monitor is connected and attach the file here. We can help you with the configuration.
Alternatively, you can use a cable that transmits EDID correctly. If you'd like to try such a product, I'd recommend the Club 3D CAC-1187.
