Some driver components rejected by Virtualbox with HA graphic enabled.

If you enabled hardware graphic acceleration in virtualbox, after you started a Windows(Guest Addon installed) guest,it will be blackscreen and crash in a minute.

It seems some of the drivers dll are unloaded by VB because of some reasons.

Looks like certification issues(which nvidia haven't resolve this too).

The following is the key to the issue.

They all have a invalid(to windows) certification "IntelGraphicsPE2021".

I hope you can fix this issue. It only occurs on newer driver version.

Thanks.

My workaround is manully remove the certs in affected dll with a simple tool,as they are already certed and verified by the big security catalog. However this is annoying.

Hello EBK21,

We decided to try to replicate your issue in our labs.

  • Please provide the exact steps to replicate including VM configuration details apart from enabling Hardware Acceleration.
  • Provide us with the specific VM guest OS.
  • Provide us with the host system SSU report.

Best regards,

Host OS: Windows 10 20H2

VM software: VirtualBox 6.1.17 r141725

Guest OS: Windows 10 20H2

Steps:

1.Create normal VM with standard windows 10 profile

2.Make sure HA is disabled.

3.Install the OS as always.

4.Install Vbox guest additions in the OS.

5.Shutdown the VM

6.Enable HA for the VM

7.Start the VM

8.VM gone black after boot (and VB crashed sometimes).

As simple as that.

SSU report is the same as the last file I think?

Driver version is 27.20.100.8935. It looks like new drivers all have that certification that cause the issue.

Hello EBK21,

Thank you for patiently waiting.

We were unable to replicate this in our labs. VirtualBox worked properly with the drivers and the hardware we used.

However, we used the latest stable version provided by the VirtuaBox developer,  6.1.16. We did not test version 6.1.17, since it is a test or BETA version, so it is not validated, please test the stable version and let us know the outcome.

We also want to recommend you to contact VirtualBox support, so they can assist you with recommendations and you can also report the failures on his non-stable version so they can improve it for further releases.

Hi.

I upgraded driver to 9079 and reinstalled windows due to windows update messing again.

I rolled back VB to 6.1.1.6 release, however the problem is still happening.

Here i provided logs of the VM.

Hello EBK21,

We checked this internally again, and this is looking more like an app issue that is specific to your environment. We couldn't replicate the issue in our lab which would confirm the driver is working as expected.

For now, the best recommendation we can provide is to report this to the app developer.

I will proceed to close this thread, If you need further assistance in a different environment or if you have additional questions, please create a new thread and we will gladly assist you.
