Hi I've tried just about every solution I can find for these issues but the gist is while playing Devil May Cry 5 I run into a really bad framerate when using DirectX 12, easily sub 60 while using high settings, but if I use DirectX 11 with those same settings I get way better framerates but it causes these insane graphical issues during some parts of the game that are hard to look at. Any kind of assistance on this would be appreciated. I am running the most up to date drivers and am using an Arc B570.

Hi SKingBlue,
Thank you for posting in the community. I have a few questions to help address your issue. Please answer the following:
- What is the current graphics driver installed on your system?
- You mentioned trying every possible solution. Can you confirm if you've tested different graphics drivers?
- Have you used Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove the graphics driver and perform a clean installation of a new one?
- Could you share a video of the game when using DX11 instead of DX12?
- Please provide a screenshot of your in-game graphics and display settings.
To gain a comprehensive understanding of your system, please use the System Support Utility (SSU). This tool will generate a text file compiling all your system information. You can follow the instructions at this link and send the text file here. How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows
Additionally, to capture the framerate when using DX12, please use the CapframeX application and recreate the issue for 10 minutes. This will allow us to visibly assess the framerate with DX12. For assistance with downloading and installing, please check this link and scroll to the performance section.
Best regards,
Dhanniel M.

Sorry for the late reply, I hadn't had the time to do everything, so to confirm some things
1. The current driver is now updated to version 32.0.101.6739
2. I have tried previous drivers but do not remember the exact numbers as once I tried 3 or 4 previous versions I updated to the latest to see if somehow it had been fixed
3. Yes I have done a clean reinstall with DDU
4. I have attached the two videos of DX11s framerate vs DX12s and have labelled the video files accordingly
5. Same as above
I however have not been able to use CapFrameX as the link provided for the configuration file will not work for me.
Videos were too large to attach here directly so I uploaded them to YouTube, if you need the files themselves I will try and compress them.

Hello SKingBlue,
To begin with CapframeX, if the Configuration folder is missing, please create a new folder within the CapframeX directory and paste the configuration JSON file into it. Once that's done, open CapframeX, assuming it's already installed on your system. Within CapframeX, you can set the duration and assign a hotkey to start capturing FPS. Please set the duration to 600 seconds.
Additionally, could you let me know which gaming platform you used to install the game (e.g., Steam, Epic Games)? Are you using the same in-game settings for both DX11 and DX12? Lastly, could you clarify what you find strange or difficult to look at when playing the game in DX11?
Best regards,
Dhanniel M.

To answer the questions
1. I am running from Steam
2. Yes I am using the same settings between both DX11 and 12
3. To clarify what's wrong, the lighting in the tunnel area shown is incorrect on DX11 causing it to be blindingly bright. How it looks in the DX12 video I provided is how it should appear and nothing I did with drivers or in game settings fixed it.

Hello SKingBlue,
No problem at all. For now, let's try using CapframeX without downloading the configuration file to record the FPS. It should work perfectly fine even without the configuration file. Once you've recorded the FPS and shared it here, I'll proceed with further investigation.
Best regards,

Hi SKingBlue,
Thank you for sharing the CapframeX data. Overall, it appears that your system is maintaining smooth FPS without significant drops or stuttering. However, I did notice occasional dips to 20-30 FPS. Could you clarify whether this CapframeX data is using DX11 or DX12? If possible, could you also provide data for the other version for comparison purposes?
Best regards,
Dhanniel M.

That first capture is using DX12, I have labelled this one as being DX11. I noticed the dips in FPS on DX12 were almost always when certain particle effects or enemies appeared and some dips are to be expected but the significance of the drop in framerate doesn't seem right.

Hi SKingBlue,
Thank you for your patience. We are currently replicating and investigating the performance issues of the game using both DX 12 and DX 11. You mentioned that when using DX 11, there is unusual lighting in the tunnel compared to DX 12. Since this is a separate issue, I kindly ask you to create a new thread specifically for this matter. Please include all the information you've provided here and share the link to the new thread in this discussion so we can address it promptly.
This approach will allow us to tackle these two distinct issues separately. Additionally, could you let me know how you are changing the APIs? It seems there is no option to do so within the game itself.
Best regards,
Dhanniel M.

As for how you change the renderer setting it's in the game files in the dmc5config.ini file. You change
TargetPlatform=DirectX12
To be DirectX11 instead. This is an intended feature it just is not changeable in game for some reason.

Hello SKingBlue,
Thank you for your patience. We attempted to replicate the issue and did not observe any FPS drops while playing the game on DX12. I would like to ask you to perform a clean installation using DDU once more and install driver version 32.0.101.6793. Afterward, please record about 10 minutes of gameplay using CapframeX and let me know if the framerate issue persists.
Please remember to disconnect your system from the internet before restarting in safe mode.
Additionally, when playing on DX12, does the framerate issue occur during specific game levels or missions, or is it present regardless of the level or mission? Is there any particular action that seems to trigger the FPS drop?
Best regards,
Dhanniel M.

As for the cause of the framerate issue, generally what I've noticed is the game begins to have framerate problems any time enemies or specific particle effects appear on screen.

Hi @SKingBlue
I was also trying to reproduce this performance issue and as noted in the Prologue mission the game ran fine on my Intel Arc B580 GPU.
As I moved forward I started to notice a performance drop in Mission 1 - advancing a bit until the broken bridge part (cutscene where a new enemy "Red Empusa" is introduced). Could you confirm if this happens to you as well?
Regardless, I am reporting this to our driver dev team now.
I do not have an ETA on how much time it could take to get this fixed but rest assured that as soon as there is any news I'll post it here.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug.
Best Regards,
Ronald M.

Hello again, I just updated to the current drivers and this problem is still persisting. It isn't as bad as it was before but it still definitely isn't running as well as I believe it should be when I compare it to the DX11 renderer.
