Hello,
I recently got a high end laptop ( Yoga Pro 9 16IRP8 - Type 83BY ) with an intel i9 - 13905H.
That laptop has a thunderbolt 4 usb-c output, wich is the only output that can achieve 4k 120hz.
I tried to use a high quality satechi usb-c to hdmi 2.1 adapter to connect to my LG TV OLED C3 42 inch that I use as a monitor, but using the thunderbolt port something is wrong with the signal, the colors saturation lowers and the oleds aren't true black, it looks more like a cheap IPS Pannel. ( but it works at 4k 120 hz )
Just for refrence the laptop also has an nvidia 4070 with a hdmi 2.0 output which works well when I am connecting the tv with the hdmi cable directly to it, but i am capped at 4k 60hz.
At first I thought maybe the usb-c adapter was to blame so i bought a 70$ HDMI 2.1 to USB-c Cable rated for 8k 60hz and I got the same results, the lack of color intensity and saturation and the lack of oled true black.
So after I ruled out the possibility of the adapter/cable, and seeing the tv works well with the hdmi port ( limited to 60hz ) , i began investigating the Thunderbolt 4.0 port on my laptop. The main difference difference between the two ports appears to be that when I use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port the Nvidia graphics card drives the display, but when I'm running over Thunderbolt 4.0 the onboard Intel graphics chip is driving the display.
What i tried so far to make it work ( unnsuscesful 😞
1. Update all laptop drivers and bios version to what i found latest on the manufacturers website.
1. Intel Graphics Driver Update to Version: 31.0.101.4972
2. nvidia graphics driver update to latest version
3. Messing with bios settings to force the nvidia gpu to output the dipsplay signal trough the thunderbolt 4, but i couldnt figure it out.
4. Messing with all kinds of windows 11 display settings, resolution, color depth, frequency, anything i could find, but that didn't affect my problems.
5. Scoured the internet for a solution , and it seams more people have problems with thunderbolt and external monitors, 1 example fixed with a driver update - https://community.intel.com/t5/Graphics/Washed-out-colors-on-external-monitor/m-p/544633
If you guys have any ideas of how i should move forward, please share.

This could be due to a mismatch in the Quantization Range of the video signal. Please turn this OFF within your TV settings:

If you want to leave the "4:4:4 Pass Through" enabled to view an unprocessed signal on the screen, please change the following to "LIMITED". This considers Output Level 16 - 235, which is normal HDMI video range, 16 being pure black and 235 being pure white.
