Unable to Set 165Hz Refresh Rate on iiyama G-Master GB3467WQSU-B5 Monitor

Hello!

I recently purchased an iiyama G-Master GB3467WQSU-B5 monitor with a 165Hz refresh rate. However, I'm encountering an issue where I cannot set the monitor to its maximum refresh rate. The only available options are 29.96Hz and 29.99Hz. I'm using the HDMI cable that came with the monitor, so I believe it should be sufficient for this purpose.

Additionally, when I connect a different monitor using the same HDMI cable to the same laptop, I am able to achieve a refresh rate of 75Hz. Below, I've included a report from the System Support Utility for Intel® Graphics Drivers. I'm not using any adapters.

Is there a way to achieve at least 60Hz on this second monitor? Would purchasing an adapter help in achieving the desired refresh rate for this monitor?

Actual graphic card: Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620

I'm attempting to use a resolution of 3440x1440 (recommended) but the maximum refresh rate I can achieve with this setting is 29.99 Hz. However, when I switch to a resolution of 2560x1080, I'm able to set the refresh rate to 60 Hz.

Also i updated my graphics drivers with the newest one.

Checked multiple HDMI cables, on two different laptops.

I believe this might be linked to the Ultra Wide monitor issues we are having on the intel arc, after driver update (on arc 101.4577).

I would suggest you trying to find an earlier driver dated before mid august or earlier to see if that works - if so we are seing the same issue as :-

 

My 1440p monitor can only output at 1080p resolution now · Issue #433 · IGCIT/Intel-GPU-Community-Issue-Tracker-IGCIT (github.com)   

I suspect some of the codebase is shared between the drivers.

Using DDU I uninstalled the current graphics driver and attempted to install 'gdx_win_191.4577.' However, I'm encountering an issue with 'Exit code 8,' which states, 'No driver was found that can be installed on the current device'. I cannot resolve the issue. Have u any ideas ? 

After that try i have installed 30.0.101.1338 with date 20.01.2022.

There is indeed no driver for your processor included in these packages. The latest package available for your processor can be found here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/776137/intel-7th-10th-gen-processor-graphics-windows.html.

the answer is simple, 165Hz is only available using gameport cable

I presume you meant DisplayPort; Gameport is a standard for joystick connectivity.

Processors with Intel HD Graphics 620 support HDMI 1.4b or DisplayPort 1.2. With a HDMI 1.4b connection, for 3440x1440, you can only achieve 30Hz. With DisplayPort 1.2, on the other hand, you can potentially achieve 120Hz. If your system (or cable) has a LSPcon IC, running firmware that can convert from DisplayPort 1.2 to HDMI 2.0, you similarly could potentially achieve 120Hz. In either case, a DisplayPort port, or a USB-C port supporting Thunderbolt or USB with DisplayPort Alt Mode, is necessary.

Bottom line, 165Hz is simply not possible with Intel HD Graphics 620, regardless of the output protocol utilized.

P.S. Achieving 120Hz requires environment with little interference or signal loss. Utilize good quality DisplayPort 1.2/1.4 or HDMI 2.0/2.1 cables.

yep, indeed, using the displaport on rtx 2070 super.

Correct, but that's because the RTX 2070 supports DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1.

max on hdmi for this monitor is 100hz. can be found in the specs

Well, there you have it: even if you had a HDMI 2.0 capability - which you don't with Intel HD Graphics 620 - there is no way to get to the 120Hz bin.

[Aside: ...and perhaps I was being too optimistic with possibility of achieving 120Hz. Recalculating again, I only get 112Hz, which isn't a bin and would drop back to the next lower bin (100Hz, which I am not even sure is a supported bin).]

48Hz is what I calculated. You won't get that, however, because the Intel HD Graphics 620 solution does not support a bin for 48Hz connections. It will drop back to the next lower bin - which is 30Hz, exactly what you saw when you tried it.

So, what happened when you connected this monitor to the HDMI port on the RTX 2070? Did you get 100Hz?

Intel HD Graphics 620, didn´t even see that.

thats going nowhere anyway.
