Updating intel UHD removes refresh rates

Hi

I recently brought a AORUS P15 XD (11800H + Nvidia 3070 Model) laptop and after going through and updating all the drivers for the laptop I have found that I lose 2 refresh rate settings. I have contacted gigabyte for support however they have been very unhelpful in finding out why I have lost the settings that I have.

After setting all graphics drivers back to how they were when I got the laptop I have found that installing the latest intel UHD drivers to be the cause.

So when running the drivers that come with the laptop before updating I have access to 60z, 120z, 240hz and 120/240hz variable.

However updating to the latest drivers I lose both 120hz and 120/240hz variable.

So I'm only left with 60hz and 240hz, I don't have to have to revert back to the base drivers if possible.

I have searched the forums for anyone with a similar problem but was unable to find any.

Thanks.

Hello BushyVR,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

I am sorry you are having issues with your Intel graphics driver. I will be glad to assist you with that.

Please confirm if the refresh rate options are missing from Windows settings or from the Intel® Graphics Command Center.

As well, perform the following steps:

  • Try a clean installation of the latest DCH driver 31.0.101.3790/31.0.101.2114. If the issue persists, perform a clean installation with the latest graphics driver provided by Gigabyte (30.0.101.1069).

DCH driver 31.0.101.3790/31.0.101.2114: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19344/intel-graphics-windows-dch-drivers.html

Hi Steven

The refresh rates are missing from both Windows and the Command Center, I have done a fresh install from both Gigabyte's Website and via the intel website as this was recommended by gigabyte.

Thank you for the information provided.

In order to further investigate about this, do you know the driver version(s) that does allow you to select all the refresh rate options, by any chance?

As well, download the Intel® SSU https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-

Open the application and select "Everything", click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel® SSU will take you to the "Summary View". Click on the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View". To save your scan, click on "Next", then "Save". Please attach the file to your reply.

The driver version that had all the settings was 30.0.100.9836 which came preinstalled on the laptop.

I have attached the requested file.

Hello BushyVR,

In order to continue working, please provide the following information:

  • What resolutions are you using?
  • What cables/ports are you using?
  • On Windows, look for the Intel® Graphics Command Center > Go to Support > Click on System Diagnostic > Click on Generate report > Save the report as a .txt file and attach it to your reply.

Requested info

  • What resolutions are you using? running at 1920x1080.

  • What cables/ports are you using? The only cable being used is whichever cable gigabyte used to connect the screen to the motherboard as I do not connect any of monitors to it as I use the laptop for work.

I've also attached the file you asked for.

Hello BushyVR,

After reviewing the information, could you please confirm if the issue only happens with the Intel DCH graphics drivers, or also with the graphics drivers provided by the OEM?

Be aware that OEM drivers are handpicked and include customized features and solutions to platform-specific issues, so it is possible this may be affecting. We always recommend using the OEM drivers for this same reason.

Look forward to hearing from you.
